THE WORLD TOP FIRMS FOR 2014 GOES TO 54 US COMPANIES WITH GERMANY 11, FRANCE 7, JAPAN AND BRITAIN WITH 5, KOREA HAVING 3 , CHINA ONLY 1

Samsung Electronics ranked seventh on the world's top 100 brands list, valued at US$45.5 billion. Hyundai Motor moved up to 40th at $10.4 billion, and Kia Motors placed 74th with $5.4 billion.

The consulting firm Interbrand on Thursday released its list of the 100 Best Global Brands for 2014.

Apple and Google maintained the top two spots for the second consecutive year, with $118.9 billion and $107 billion, respectively. Coca Cola placed third with $81.6 billion, followed by IBM ($72.2 billion) and Microsoft ($61.1 billion).
Facebook grew the most, jumping 23 places to 29th, and Nokia dropped the most, falling 41 spots to 98th.

The U.S. had the most brands on the list with 54, followed by Germany with 11, France with seven and Japan and Britain with five each. Korea, Switzerland and the Netherlands tied for sixth with three brands each.

Huawei, a telecommunication company, became the first Chinese brand to make the list, placing 94th.
