President Obama rubbed shoulders with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars at a Democratic fundraiser Thursday night, but host and Academy Award-winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow appeared to be the most star-struck.
“I am one of your biggest fans, if not the biggest,” Paltrow gushed to the president, before telling him “you’re so handsome that I can’t speak properly.”
Paltrow said she admired the president for his efforts on sustainable energy, as well as his push for equal pay legislation, which she deemed “very important to me as a working mother.”
Thursday evening’s event was not short on star power. Hollywood superstars Julia Roberts and Bradley Whitford were among the approximately 200 guests who shelled out to attend the fundraiser, which benefitted the Democratic National Committee. Tickets for just the reception began at $1,000, while access to the dinner started at $15,000.
Obama played to the celebrity crowd, tailoring his standard fundraising speech to incorporate Paltrow’s children while discussing the Ebola crisis.
