THE CHINESE WITH ITS NEW FOUND CASH BUYING UP REAL ESTATE IN THE USA AND THE UK FROM SILICON VALLEY, DALLAS, NEWYORK, AND LONDON
Canyon Lake Ranch was once a playground for Christian day campers, and then was a corporate retreat with water-skiing, barbecues and cowboy shoot-’em-up shows. Hawks now circle above 108 sunbaked acres occupied by copperhead snakes, a few coyotes and the occasional construction truck.
Soon this ranch will be a gated subdivision of 99 mini-mansions designed for buyers from mainland China. The developer, Zhang Long, a Beijing businessman, is keeping three plots to build his own estate along the site of an old rodeo arena.
This luxury development 35 miles northwest of Dallas is the latest frontier in a global buying phenomenon as Chinese money becomes a major force in real estate around the world. The flood of money is likely to persist despite the current tumult in China. While a currency devaluation and stock market crash have crimped the country’s buying power overseas, the resulting uncertainty is making many Chinese individuals and companies eager to invest anywhere except their home country.
In London, Chinese investors are purchasing high-end apartments in wealthy neighborhoods and big skyscrapers in the financial district. In Canada, they are paying $1 million for modest Vancouver bungalows. In Australia, a Chinese sovereign wealth fund bought nine office towers, one of the biggest real estate transactions in that nation’s history.
In the United States, the home-buying spree began on the coasts, where Chinese buyers snapped up luxury condos in Manhattan and McMansions in Silicon Valley, pushing up home values in big cities. It is now spreading to the middle of the country, where prices are more modest and have room to run.
The homes here in Corinth will feature two master suites, one for the buyers, the other for aging parents. A concierge service will help new arrivals from overseas order Internet service and pay electric bills. Chauffeurs will ferry homeowners until they learn to navigate the loops and spurs of Texas freeways.

Throughout Friday’s six-hour armed standoff at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood facility that left three dead and nine wounded, social media feasted on the fact the gunman was described as a white man, as WND reported.
It didn’t take long for that meager piece of information to morph into “Christian,” “pro-lifer,” and “Republican,” even though authorities had not then — or even yet — released any information about the gunman’s motive.
So far, Robert Lewis Dear, 57, of Hartsel, Colorado, is disappointing those who tried to stereotype pro-life Christians as terrorists.
No evidence of Dear’s involvement or even opinion on the issue of abortion or religion has surfaced. Pro-life groups denounced the shooting and indicated they had neither interacted with or heard of him.
As it turns out, Dear’s not even a Republican — he’s registered to vote in Park County, Colorado, as unaffiliated. And as a female!

A criminal-record check by Independent Journal revealed past arrests in South Carolina for “cruelty to animals,” for being a “peeping tom” and two traffic offenses, all more than 10 years ago.
What is known is that Dear moved to Colorado from North Carolina a year ago. Neighbors there told the Washington Post Dear had a history of run-ins with those who lived close by. Some said they found nothing remarkable about him, while others recalled him as delusional and aggressive.

Defence giant BAE Systems has won a development contract with the US military that could lead to a huge deal to replace the Marine Corps' fleet of amphibious vehicles.
BAE's US-based Land and Armaments division and partner Iveco have signed a $103.7m (£69m) agreement to build 16 prototype armoured combat vehicles capable of "swimming" ashore.
The company's eight-wheeled vehicles, which can carry three crew and 13 heavily equipped troops, are capable of landing Marines from ships out at sea and then supporting them once on shore.
Along with BAE, US company Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) was also selected to produce 16 of its own amphibious vehicles.

The Singapore-made Terrex 2 armoured infantry carrier has been shortlisted by the United States Marine Corps as the war machine that could be ferrying the elite troops to war zones as soon as 2020.
If chosen, the eight-wheeled amphibious vehicle will replace the ageing and lumbering troop carriers that the marines have been using since the 1970s.
Today, the Terrex is being used by the Singapore Armed Forces to provide foot soldiers with added cover and speed in the battlefield. It also gives them invaluable near real-time updates of enemy and friendly troop positions
Clinching the Marine Corps deal, worth some US$1.5 billion (S$2.1 billion), will be the biggest coup for Singapore Technologies (ST) Kinetics, which designed and built the Terrex 2.
The defence contractoralso sold more than 100 Warthog - also known as the Bronco - armoured personnel carriers to the British military in 2008 for $330 million.
ST Kinetics' rival in the two-year- long evaluation is British defence manufacturer BAE Systems.
The Pentagon on Tuesday said each firm will have to build 16 vehicles to be delivered from January till 2017 for field tests, with the eventual winner producing more than 200 vehicles by 2020.
For this project, ST Kinetics is teaming up with US defence firm Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). The Fortune 500 scientific, engineering and technology company, based in Virginia, will be in charge of wiring up the Terrex's weapons systems, among other things.
The Singapore-US consortium beat three other rivals, including industry heavyweight Lockheed Martin, to get this far.

The $1-billion desalination plant coming online next month in Carlsbad will fit right in with years of careful planning and investment in water supply in San Diego County.
It will also worsen a peculiar San Diego problem amid a multiyear drought: an oversupply of water.
Unlike other parts of California, San Diego has 99% of the water needed for normal usage. But statewide conservation mandates have applied equally to areas that have plenty of water and those that don't, so the result here has been water piling up unused while local water agencies raise rates to make up for lost sales.
Carlsbad Mayor Matt Hall, a San Diego County Water Authority board member, said the situation is hard to explain to his constituents.
"It's real hard to tell them, 'You have to let your grass die,' and in the same breath you have to tell them, 'We have more water than we can use, '" he said.
Enter the desalination plant. The private venture kicked off a 30-day test period Nov. 9 and is expected to start producing water next month, enough to meet between 7% and 10% of the county's demand. Water officials agreed in 2012 to buy the water whether they need it or not, to make the plant financially feasible.
The new supply is just one more reason local water officials are advocating for the state to ease conservation mandates for areas where supplies are ample, which would lessen the oversupply.
The desalinated water will be more expensive than the county's current supplies, triggering $5 a month in increased water rates for most households. As the more expensive water arrives, it will have implications for the water authority, which recently has had to cut back on purchases of imported water it's entitled to on a temporary basis.
Next year, the desalinated ocean water will cost San Diego water agencies at least $113.6 million — more than double the $45.2 million they would pay for the same amount of imported water, which remains available despite a statewide drought.

The President was joined by wife Michelle and daughters Malia and Sasha as they visited the city's Friendship Place homeless center.
They served dinner to dozens of hungry vets as part of the 'Feast with Friends' event at the shelter, located in the basement of St Luke's Church.
Each family member took on a different task with Obama dishing up turkey and ladles of gravy, Michelle serving vegetables and their daughters giving out mashed potatoes, stuffing and cranberry sauce.
The President told diners 'we appreciate you' and asked one veteran, 'how you been?' and asking them whether they preferred to have white or dark turkey meat.
One tells Obama, 'You're doing a great job' before wishing him a happy holiday.
Earlier in the day, Obama had said: 'It's not only of the spirit of giving during this holiday season, but our national obligation to make sure all those who serve and sacrifice for our country have a place to call home.
'My administration considers this one of our top priorities, making sure that we're bringing about the reality of zero homelessness for our veterans.'
The Washington Post reports that the shelter received a $3.1million grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs earlier this year.

Confirming what some on Wall Street have been suspecting for a while, Walt Disney Co. has revealed that it lost three million subscribers to its sports network ESPN within one year.
The ESPN faithful are down to 92 million as of the fiscal year ended Oct. 3., Disney DIS, +0.61% said in a regulatory filing dated Wednesday. That compares with 95 million for fiscal year 2014, and 99 million for 2013. It also brings customer numbers back to where they were 10 years ago, a level of 92 million for 2006.
In August, Chief Executive Robert Iger revealed the sports powerhouse channel had experienced “some subscriber losses.” Wall Street punished Disney shares after the media giant said its cable business — which is largely driven by ESPN — would see operating income growth in the “mid-single digits”. That was a step down from a previous forecast, which saw “high single digit” income growth between fiscal 2013 and 2016.
But that dimmer outlook from Disney was partly the reason that media stocks got hit hard in the summer. In its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report in November, the company posted a 7.3% rise in profit, but disappointed on the revenue side.
The Mouse House isn’t alone in its subscriber struggles, though. Time Warner Inc. TWX, +0.66% revealed sliding cable TV membership numbers earlier this month.
Nielsen data has revealed that subscription growth for ESPN has been waning since 2011. Disney pays around $2 billion a year for NFL football games and will pay $1.4 billion to the NBA starting in 2016. Both of these deals have raised analyst concerns about whether the company is paying too much.
ESPN subscribers paid just over $6 each on average a month for the service in 2014. Based on that, the loss of 3 million subscribers in one year would be taking around $216 million away from Disney’s coffers.

When is Thanksgiving Day 2015?

Thanksgiving Day traditionally kicks off the 'holiday season' in the United States. The day was set in stone by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939 and approved by Congress in 1941. FDR changed it from Abraham Lincoln's designation as the last Thursday in November (because there are sometimes five Thursdays in the month).
While Britons think of it as a warm-up for the Yuletide period, many Americans think it of it as just as important as Christmas.
In fact, more people in the US celebrate Thanksgiving than do Christmas. Thanksgiving Day is secular holiday in a country that officially separates church and state so this probably makes sense.
What is the history of Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving Day can be traced back to the 1621 celebration at the Plymouth Plantation, where the religious refugees from England known popularly as the Pilgrims invited the local Native Americans to a harvest feast after a particularly successful growing season.
The previous year's harvests had failed and in the winter of 1620 half of the pilgrims had starved to death.

Campus censorship has become a special avocation among the progressive left.
Fifty years ago, that statement might have implied that liberal students were the ones fighting censorship, that they were the ones speaking out against the censoriousness of their conservative classmates and institutional brass.
Today, it means the opposite. If it’s politically charged or can hurt your feelings — or even if it can do neither of these things but can nevertheless serve as a pretense for cultural attacks — campus progressives are sure to police it.
The Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) recently reviewed available data tallying more than a decade’s worth of student blowback against guest speakers whose views they haven’t liked. The data, compiled by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), tracks the number of organized attempts to have some controversial speaker or other disinvited from their scheduled engagements on college campuses nationwide.
To absolutely no one’s surprise, the left curb-stomps the right when it comes to censoring — or, rather, trying really hard — to censor speakers. For the period spanning from 2000 to 2014, progressive-left protests erupted 160 times, successfully getting a guest speaker banned from appearing on a campus in 49 of those instances.

North Korean officials are ordering young men to keep their hair short and are enforcing their tonsorial diktat if they find anyone who fails to comply.
A source in Pyongyang last week said authorities have issued an order requiring men to keep their hair no longer than 2 cm, while women are required to keep their hair bobbed. "University student monitors are walking around with scissors and cutting off the hair of offenders," the source said.
Young men have been told to model their hairstyle on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, whose eccentric hairdo is known in the North as the "ambitious" style, where the sides and back of the head are almost clean shaven and only the top is left.
The source said in the past at least the top of the ambitious style could be left longer, but now even the top is cut to 2 cm or less.
Young women are supposed to wear their hair in a bobbed cut like Kim's wife Ri Sol-ju. Only performers are apparently allowed to grow their hair.

Though there have been a string of big sales events taking place in South Korea recently, nothing can beat the scale of the annual U.S. Black Friday sales set to kick off at midnight in the U.S., or 2 p.m. Friday in Korea.
On Black Friday -- falling the day after Thanksgiving, among the biggest U.S. holidays of the year -- retailers and store brands across the U.S. will offer bargain deals and large discounts, some reaching as high as 90 percent, on numerous product categories.
Though the signature American shopping bonanza is most famous for the swarms of people physically shoving their way through crowds to grab mega-cheap in-store goods, many Black Friday deals can also be found on U.S.-based e-commerce websites and online store brands.
There is also Cyber Monday, an online-only sales event with major price markdowns launched by small and large retailers held the Monday after Black Friday, though some start sales earlier.
This means that even those living outside the U.S. can take full advantage of the flagship American sales period to purchase electronics, home appliances, clothing, toys and other goods at bargain prices hard to ignore. It just takes a couple of extra steps and a bit more time.
Last year, Koreans directly purchased goods from the U.S. worth around 800 billion won ($698 million) during the Black Friday sales period, and the figures are expected to surpass 1 trillion won this year, according to the Korea Customs Service.

This Thanksgiving, President Obama is calling for Americans to lend a helping hand to another group of pilgrims fleeing persecution.
“Nearly four centuries after the Mayflower set sail, the world is still full of pilgrims – men and women who want nothing more than the chance for a safer, better future for themselves and their families,” Obama said in his weekly address Thursday. “What makes America America is that we offer that chance.”
The president praised Americans who have offered to open their homes to refugees fleeing war-torn Syria.
“One woman from Pennsylvania wrote to me to say, ‘Money is tight for us in my household. … But I have a guest room. I have a pantry full of food. We can do this,’ ” Obama said.
“Another woman from Florida told me her family’s history dates back to the Mayflower — and she said that welcoming other is part of ‘what it means to be an American,’ ” he added.
Obama called for citizens to put the “generosity” of America on full display by welcoming refugees into the country with arms wide open.
“I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, surrounded by loved ones and full of joy and gratitude,” he said. “And together, may we all play our own small part in the American story, and write a next chapter that future generations can be thankful for.”

It’s Thanksgiving Day 2015 and, despite hollow assurances from a president who is increasingly regarded as cavalier about the national security of the United States, the country is on edge.
America is on edge because the Islamic State has been allowed to metastasize and spread over the past two years after President Obama dismissed them as the “JV” team.

An advertisement encouraging Britain to pray has been banned by British movie theaters that have deemed the commercial as too offensive to be shared with the general public.
The commercial was created by the Church of England and had been planned to be released alongside the opening of the new film in the Star Wars franchise, “The Force Awakens.”
The “offensive” commercial is about one minute in length and features the Archbishop of Canterbury and other Christians from across the country reciting the Lord’s Prayer as they go about their daily lives.
Arun Arora, who is the director of communications for the Church of England, told CNN: "I am shocked by this wrong decision. We worked with DCM from the beginning. We said: 'We are religious, we are the Church of England. Is there a problem with that?' They said, 'no that's fine.' They were very happy and welcoming and even offered us a 50% discount on the price of advertising slots." Arora also added that the Church of England was considering legal action because "Under the equality act, you can't lump religious and political beliefs together. Political views are not a protected characteristic, but religious belief is."
Even some of Britain’s liberals (who have mainly cheered the decision – not realizing that they are in essence supporting the destruction of free speech), were a bit surprised, considering that Parliament still recites the Lord’s Prayer at the start of each day.

ANOTHER LARGE SINKHOLE SWALLOWS THE BEACH THIS TIME IN QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA
A SINKHOLE “the size of a football field” has swallowed up part of a popular southeast Queensland tourist spot.
Part of North Stradbroke’s Jumpinpin beach disappeared on Wednesday, prompting Surf Life Saving Queensland to issue a warning for people to stay away.
The hole is about 100m long and 100m wide, and 38km south of Point Lookout, the nearest patrolled area.
A SLS spokeswoman said the beach had been popular with fisherman and campers.
In September, a giant sinkhole opened up at Inskip Point near Rainbow Beach, forcing hundreds of nearby campers to evacuate as it swallowed a car, caravan, trailer and tents.

In an effort to "stir people's belief and patriotism," Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley posted a new sign Tuesday morning outside of his department that says his county is politically incorrect, and if you have a problem with that, you can leave.
Paid for by Jolley, the sign reads: "WARNING: Harris County is politically incorrect. We say: Merry Christmas, God Bless America and In God We Trust. We salute our troops and our flag. If this offends you… LEAVE!"
Jolly said Tuesday he was tired of the silent majority becoming "more silent."
"It's time for the silent majority to stand up for our beliefs and not be ashamed," he said.
He's received overwhelming support for the sign that cost him $553, he said. He purchased it from D&S Sign Company on Linwood Boulevard in Columbus. Jolley said several citizens have wanted to post one on their property.
Some have even sent checks.
"The sign has been purchased double," he said.
"I'm humbled by all of the support," the sheriff said. "Surprised and humbled by it. Maybe the silent majority isn't going to be silent anymore."

Over 600 Democrat politicians from 32 states have joined together to oppose the centerpiece of Pres. Obama’s climate change agenda, the Clean Power Plan.
“As Democrats committed to a prosperous America and a healthy environment, we believe the United States has a unique opportunity to lead the world in addressing the global climate challenge, and yet do so, as we must, without unduly burdening the American economy or the American people,” the Democratic coalition called CoalBlue said in a letter sent Tuesday to Obama.
“The letter was signed by 626 state and local officials from nearly three dozen states, including 177 state legislators, 278 local elected officials and 148 Democratic Party officials,” the Washington Examiner reports.
These leaders believe the Environmental Protection Agency’s new rules regarding carbon emissions will cause great harm to the economy:…….
……“The EPA, while well intentioned, has lost sight of the importance of preserving affordable and reliable energy in its pursuit of clean energy,” the Democrat leaders add.
As reported by Western Journalism, the EPA’s Clean Power Plan calls for a 30 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by the nation’s power industry by 2030.
The energy sources that will be impacted the most by the new regulations are coal and natural gas. Currently, the United States derives 39 percent of its energy from coal, 27 percent from natural gas, 19 percent from nuclear, 6 percent from hydroelectric, and 7 percent from other renewables (mostly wind power).
The president has stated that his plans for the energy sector will necessarily cause utility rates to “skyrocket“ and result in the closure of coal-fired power plants.
The Heritage Foundation released a study last fall that found the EPA regulations the Obama administration has announced in order to achieve its climate change goals would reduce the United States’ Gross Domestic Product by $2.5 trillion by 2030. Further, employment levels would “track nearly 300,000 jobs below the no-carbon-regulation baseline in an average year, with some years seeing an employment deficit of more than 1 million jobs.”

NOVEMBER 23RD 2015 THE AMAZON ROCKET AS BROUGHT BY JEFF BEZOS THE BLUE ORIGIN TAKES OFF AT MACH 3.72 AT AN ALTITUDE OF 329,839 FEET AND SOFTLY LANDS BACK 4.4MPH TO ITS SUCCESSFUL TOUCH DOWN KUDOS TO THE BO TEAM
Blue Origin, the private space firm owned by Amazon's Jeff Bezos, has just dropped a huge gauntlet in the race to develop a reusable rocket. It just launched its New Shepard space vehicle (video, below), consisting of a BE-3 rocket and crew capsule, to the edge of space at a suborbital altitude of 100.5 kilometers (62 miles). The capsule then separated and touched down beneath a parachute, but more importantly, the BE-3 rocket also started its own descent. After the rockets fired at nearly 5,000 feet, it made a a controlled vertical landing at a gentle 4.4 mph.
