Sitting at Starbucks, on the corner of 24th and San Antonio, I noticed a particularly odd situation.Two Austin Police Officers standing outside the Castilian just lingering. Every time I looked back there was a different student holding a carbon copy of what looked to be a jay walking citation. Suddenly one of the cops shouts at an innocent girl jogging with her headphones on through West Campus. He wobbled after her and grabbed her by the arm. Startled and not knowing it was a cop, she jerked her arm away. The cop viewed this as resisting arrest and proceeded to grab both arms tightly, placing her in handcuffs. She repeatedly pleaded with them saying that she was just exercising and to let her go. She repeatedly cried out, “I did not do anything wrong…just give me the ticket.” The other officer strolled over and not they where making a scene. She tried to get up. I doubt she was running away, as she was in handcuffs, but the second cop pushed her back down to the ground. Because of the commotion, they walked her to the cop car in the alleyway next to the Big Bite, where she, overcome with frustration, yelled loudly to gain attention. Because of that, the cops tightened their grip causing her to squirm and kick. Then came two bike cops from down the alley. Now we have four cops and one small, helpless girl in the back of a cop car, because she was just going for a run.

Despite the fact that a New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene report found that more black babies were killed by abortion in the city than were born there in 2012, Mayor Bill de Blasio has pledged to partner with Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to expand their businesses and to wipe out pro-life crisis pregnancy centers.

As reported by CNS News, the "Summary of Vital Statistics 2012 The City of New York, Pregnancy Outcomes," prepared by the city’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, states that 31,328 African American babies were killed by abortion in 2012 in New York City, while only 24,758 black babies were born, leaving 6,570 more abortions than births in that year. The number of black babies aborted comprise 42.4 percent of the total number of abortions in the city, which numbered 73,815.

Table 1 of the report provides "total number of live births, spontaneous terminations (miscarriages), and induced terminations (abortions) for women" between the ages of 15 and 49 and of various races and boroughs of residence in New York City.

If black and Hispanic abortions are combined, the 54,245 aborted babies represent 73 percent of the total abortions in New York City in 2012. "The number of non-Hispanic white abortions was 9,704, and the number of Asian and Pacific Islander abortions was 4,493."

The Obama administration is planning to send what critics characterize as government spies into the newsrooms of the nation’s media outlets.

This unprecedented assault on Americans’ First Amendment freedoms is part of the Community Organizer-in-Chief’s political war against the few pockets of media resistance he has encountered at Fox News and in the world of talk radio. To this end the Federal Communications Commission is moving forward with its “Multi-Market Study of Critical Information Needs,” or CIN. Although the FCC is a regulatory body, not a research organization, it plans to send researchers to question reporters, editors, and station owners about how they decide which stories to run. In the spring a field test is set for Columbia, S.C.

The FCC intends to discover “the process by which stories are selected,” how often stations cover “critical information needs,” the media outlets’ “perceived station bias,” and “perceived responsiveness to underserved populations.” The phrase “underserved populations” is politically correct neo-Marxist jargon and a screaming red flag that some kind of quota system may be on its way.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR WASHING MACHINE FROM STATEFARM

Your clothes washer offers your household loads of support, so periodically take the time to return the favor. Maintaining your washing machine with these tips can help you avoid breakdowns that could put the appliance out of commission—or worse, lead to leaks and costly water damage.

1. Replace the water hoses. Check hoses regularly for bulging, cracking, fraying and leaks around hose ends. Replace the hose if a problem is found or every three to five years as part of a proactive maintenance program.
2. Move the machine. Check that there are at least 4 inches between your washing machine and the wall. This prevents hoses from kinking.
3. Keep the machine level. A washing machine that’s off kilter can vibrate, rock or “walk” across the floor during the spin cycle, which can damage the floor or the machine. Balance the washer by turning the legs clockwise to lower it, and counterclockwise to raise it.
4. Clean the lint filter. Depending on your machine, the lint collector may be located in the agitator tube, which is the center column of most machines, or near the top of the washtub. Keep it clean to help your washer run efficiently.
5. Wash the washing machine. Rinse away soap residue and buildup by running store-bought washing machine cleaner, or a solution of hot water, vinegar and baking soda through an empty load.
6. Prevent musty odors and mildew. Leave the washer lid or door open between loads to dry out the unit and keep it smelling fresh. On front-loading washers wipe down the rubber seal around the door after doing your laundry.
7. Measure your detergent. Read the appliance instruction manual to make sure you use the correct type and amount of detergent for your machine. Too much soap can leave residue on your clothes and cause excess wear and tear on your washer, and high-efficiency washers require a special, low-sudsing detergent.
8. Don’t overload the machine. Use the appropriate amount of water for the size of the load. Wash heavy or bulky items in small loads since these are harder on the appliance.
9. Add a drip pan underneath your washing machine. This is a smart addition to an upstairs laundry room, since water leaks could damage the floors below it.

Oil prices have risen to over 100 dollars per barrel again, and that means you’ll see the prices jumping up at the gas pump. Analyists at GasBuddy.com say a late February increase is normal as refineries cut back production to perform plant maintenance and switch over to summer blends of fuel.

Wisconsin drivers have seen the price go up about a dime in the past two weeks to around $3.30 per gallon. The highest gas prices in the lower 48 states are New York, Connecticut, and California with prices over $3.65 per gallon. Montana and South Carolina were at the low end of the price range last week, averaging about $3.10 per gallon.

Gov. Jerry Brown and Democratic leaders will unveil a $687-million proposal Wednesday afternoon aimed at helping California deal with its drought emergency.

The new legislation would speed up the spending of millions of dollars aimed at improving water conservation and cleaning up drinking water supplies, while increasing penalties for illegal diversion of water supplies.

Most of the money in the proposal -- about $550 million worth -- would come from existing bond money approved by voters, according to sources familiar with the proposal. There are no new taxes or fees on water use in the plan.

State agencies would be required to come up with new plans to conserve water, and the state water board would be given new money and powers to expand the use of water that has been recycled or captured from storm-drain runoff.

The proposal would also tap $40 million in money raised from fees on polluters to enhance water and energy conservation projects.

That wasn’t misspeaking — it was a deliberate, necessary lie. Even Democrats couldn’t have voted for Obamacare if Americans had known the truth. It was absolutely vital for Obama to lie about people being able to keep their insurance and their doctors.

Of course, it was difficult for voters to know the truth because every time Republicans would try to tell them, the White House and the media would rush in and call the critics liars.

The White House posted a specific refutation of the “disinformation” about not being able to keep your doctor or insurance plan that was being disseminated by Republicans “to scare people.” Their proof consisted of a video of Obama clearly stating, “If you have insurance that you like, then you will be able to keep that insurance. If you’ve got a doctor that you like, you will be able to keep your doctor.”

Declassified FBI documents confirm the existence of an Islamic jihadist enclave in Texas that is part of a network in the U.S. identified by the Department of Homeland Security as a terrorist organization.

The enclave belongs to the network of Muslims of the Americas, which is linked to the Pakistani-based militant group Jamaat al-Fuqra, according to an investigation by the Clarion Project and ACT! For America Houston.

Jamaat al-Fuqra was founded in New York in 1980 by Sheik Mubarak Ali Gilani, an Islamic cleric in Pakistan who at one time was in Pakistani custody in connection with the abduction of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl.

Muslims in America says it has a network of 22 “villages” around the U.S., with headquarters at an encampment in the Catskill Mountains near Hancock, N.Y., called Holy Islamberg, as WND reported in 2006. An investigative report at the time found neighbors of Islamberg were deeply concerned about military-style training taking place there and frustrated by an apparent lack of attention from federal authorities.

WND also reported in 2006 that Jamaat al-Fuqra has collaborated with major terrorist organizations, including Hezbollah and al-Qaida.

The FBI describes the compound in Texas, called Mahmoudberg, as an “enclave” and “communal living site.” Located in Brazoria County along County Road 3 near Sweeny, Texas, it was discovered by the FBI through a tip from an informant in New York, according to the Clairon Project.

The Texas commune, in a heavily wooded area, is estimated by a local resident who spoke to ACT researchers to encompass about 25 acres. It dates back to the late 1980s, the resident said, which is confirmed by the FBI documents.

The FBI reported in 2007 that one commune resident formerly was a leader at the Muslims of America compound in Badger, Calif., called Baladullah.

In March 2001, a Baladullah member was arrested for transporting guns between New York and South Carolina. Another was charged with murdering a police deputy that caught him breaking and entering a home.

The declassified FBI documents show that the enclave is not the only affiliate of the organization that has operated in the state.

In 1991, after a MOA/Jamaat-ul-Fuqra bomb plot in Toronto was foiled, a federal search warrant for three suspects was issued and a nearly 45-acre “compound” about 70 miles south of Dallas was raided.

The location of the compound corresponds to a reference in an FBI document obtained by the Clarion Project that says about seven MOA members purchased property near Corsicana, Texas.

The suspects fled before the raid, and the children at the compound suddenly disappeared from school. Federal officials found four mobile homes; three military, general-purpose tents; and six vehicles. Also discovered were loose ammunition, books on counter-terrorism techniques and weaponry and various items with “Jamaat Fuqra Land” written on them.

Surveillance photos of a post office building and the Greenhead Station in Los Angeles were discovered as well.

The activities of Muslims in America continued after the October 1991 raid, however. Two 1992 FBI documents say MOA members in the state were using false aliases, Social Security numbers and birth certificates.

Murder, firebombing

Muslims of America is identified as a terrorist group in the FBI documents obtained by the Clarion Project.

A 2007 FBI record states members of the group have been involved in at least 10 murders, one disappearance, three firebombings, one attempted firebombing, two explosive bombings and one attempted bombing.

“The documented propensity for violence by this organization supports the belief the leadership of the MOA extols membership to pursue a policy of jihad or holy war against individuals or groups it considers enemies of Islam, which includes the U.S. Government,” the document states. “Members of the MOA are encouraged to travel to Pakistan to receive religious and military/terrorist training from Sheikh Gilani.”

The document also says Muslims of America is now “an autonomous organization which possesses an infrastructure capable of planning and mounting terrorist campaigns overseas and within the U.S.”

One in four Americans are completely unfamiliar with Nicolaus Copernicus's 1543 theory that the Earth circles the Sun, according to a study by the National Science Foundation.

The survey, released on Friday at an annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, asked 2,200 people nine factual questions about physical and biological science, with the average score being just 5.8 correct answers.

The question - "Does the Earth go around the Sun, or does the Sun go around the Earth" - was answered incorrectly by 26 per cent of respondents.

Fewer than half of the respondents - 48 per cent - are aware that humans evolved from earlier species of animals and just 39 percent answered correctly that "the universe began with a huge explosion".

A total of 42 per cent of Americans said that astrology is either "very scientific" or "sort of scientific".

Liao Fan, who said he put on 20 kg (44 lb) and drank more alcohol to play the role of detective Zhang Zili, was named Best Actor.

"Chinese films are accepted more and more," Diao Yinan, director of the winning film, told reporters.

"It seems every time we take them abroad, there is a greater enthusiasm for Chinese cinema. We hadn't expected that, but film is global nowadays."

Asked about censorship in China, Diao said: "Of course there is censorship, I believe that exists around the whole world, doesn't it? When it comes to Chinese censorship, I think the fact we are here in Berlin shows our censors are becoming more open, although there are difficulties."

ASIA’S CHINA THE MODERN DAY GOLIATH IN CIVIL ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION PLANS TO BUILD THE LONGEST UNDERWATER TUNNEL AT 122KM

CHINA’S ambitions haven’t slowed with its economy as it gears up for another massive engineering feat.

It wants to build the world’s longest underwater tunnel at 122 kilometres, more than double the current record holder.

The tunnel will run under Bohai Bay between the northern city of Dalian and Yantai on the east coast, according to a report in The Telegraph.

The mantle of longest underwater tunnel in the world is currently held by neighbour and rival Japan with the Seikan Tunnel, which clocks in at 53.9 kilometres. But it won’t hold the title for long as Switzerland is planning to open the Gotthard Base Tunnel next year. At 57.1 kilometres, it will just pip the Japanese.

But China’s gargantuan project will more than double any existing tunnel. And it’s going to be worth it, estimated to shave 1,287 kilometres off the current journey between the two cities it will connect. It will also form a link in a high speed rail line from China’s north to the south.

It’s hardly the first time China has embarked on such a mammoth project. Starting with 21,000 kilometre Great Wall, the world power has also built the world’s largest high speed rail network, longest bridges and towering skyscrapers.

A TEACHER accused of murder, another charged with conducting a five-year sexual relationship with a teenage student and a school worker who allegedly sold drugs to pupils are among dozens of “ongoing” cases within the Education Department system.

The Sunday Mail can today reveal that more than one in four cases involve allegations of “criminal” conduct against children, with the majority currently before the state’s courts.

Teachers, support staff and bureaucrats are accused of a range of offences including murder, rape, engaging in explicit relationships with students, stalking and accessing child pornography.

Others are accused of misconduct such as violent behaviour, inadequately supervising classes, failing to report sexual activity between students and smoking drugs on premises.

Meanwhile, almost a dozen workers have been charged with dishonesty over their expenses and “nepotism”, according to secret internal documents.

The Department said last night the documents were prepared as part of recommendations from the Debelle Royal Commission report.

The 32-page report, seen by the Sunday Mail, shows there are currently more than 80 “ongoing investigation matters” involving Education Department staff including those employed by Families SA.

The report, written last month and marked “highly confidential”, discloses 20 criminal “matters involving children” and currently employed staff.

A further five cases involve former employees while another seven involving those “non-employees” but which are linked to the education system.

The report, prepared for department chief executive Tony Harrison, reveals eight “other” criminal matters and 10 cases of “financial misconduct and other dishonesty matters”.

The breakdown, compiled by the department’s acting manager of the investigations unit Brett Dixon, reveals key details about each case including names, dates and summary of each offence. None of the parties can be named for legal reasons.

Among the cases recorded to the end of December last year include:

A TEACHER from a metropolitan school being charged with murder. The allegations does not involve anyone from his school.

A TEACHER from a leading Adelaide public high school due to face trial later this year over an alleged five year sexual “relationship” with a now 17 year-old former student;

A PRINCIPAL of a regional school being charged with assault and rape;

A SUPPORT worker from a western suburbs school accused of selling drugs to pupils;

A SCHOOL support worker charged with sex offences including asking a pupil for “phone sex”;
