Jordan shoe commercial of the 1990s, images of which were soon branded
into the minds of sports fans around the world.
Since then,
basketball legend Michael Jordan’s sneakers have transcended sports gear
to become symbols of pop culture and must-have items for anyone
striving to “be like Mike.”
But the shoes have become a social hot potato in Korea, as the design of
the recently released Air Jordan 12 retro The Master has stirred up
controversy for using an image of Japan’s Rising Sun flag.
While the symbol is widely used in pop culture, clothing and footwear,
it is still viewed as a symbol of Japanese imperialism by many Koreans,
who are offended by its use.
Nike Korea removed the sneakers from its stores last month after the controversy.
“We
understand the sensitivity of this issue and we apologize for any
offense caused. The Air Jordan 12 will no longer be sold in Korea,” Nike
Korea told The Korea Herald in a statement.
But Koreans are left wondering what the leading sportswear company’s position is on the contentious design.

Kyoung-duk, professor of general education at Sungshin Women’s
University, sent a letter of complaint to Nike and Michael Jordan about
the matter but he has yet to receive a reply.
“Although Nike
Korea issued an apology and stopped selling it in Korea, it is still
being retailed all over the world. Imperial Japan inflicted pain upon
many Asian countries; It is not just a matter between Seoul and Tokyo,”
said Seo, adding he will continue raising the issue to Nike.

documents about the controversial “Fast and Furious” gunrunning
operation even as lawmakers appealed their case to seek additional

After a long court case, the Department of Justice (DOJ) complied with a federal district judge's order that rejected the administration’s assertion of executive privilege over documents describing the botched operation.

Yet DOJ has obstructed our investigative work for years,” Chaffetz said in a statement Friday.

As we watch our nation becoming more and more divided, one troubling
trend is accelerating with amazing speed: the increase in “-ist”
accusations.
If you’re white, you’re automatically a racist. If you’re a man, you’re automatically sexist. If you’re a boss, you’re automatically an oppressive capitalist. If you live in Idaho, you’re automatically a white supremacist (trust me on this). And on and on it goes. Judgmental. Hater. Intolerant. Phobic. Did I miss anything?
Accusations of “-ist” became widespread because they were so effective. Ever try to engage a liberal in conversation? The moment – the moment! – you say something they don’t like, the accusations start. “Hater!”
How do you argue against that? Most people immediately move into defensive mode, sputtering denials the other party soaks up like water, causing their baseless accusations to bloom and flourish. “Hater! Racist pig! Sexist jerk!” And on and on it goes.
A defensive reaction to these groundless accusations is normal and nearly universal. Progressive activists (also known as Social Justice Warriors, or SJWs) have learned to exploit it like few other groups ever have. Why? Because it works. They’ve learned there are rewards for being offended.
You see, most people are nice and decent and just want to get along. We operate under the old rules of civility, which dictate that everyone is entitled to his own opinion, and if we disagree, we shrug and agree to disagree.
But SJWs don’t operate under these rules. And the sooner you understand that, dear readers, the sooner you can learn how to respond to their attacks.
Because we are rational – and because we mistakenly assume others are too – whenever an SJW called us a name (racist/sexist/hater/whatever), we’d stop and examine our behavior/words/attitude/lifestyle, concerned they might be right. And although we couldn’t see what was offensive, in the interest of getting along we would dutifully change whatever thing they found distasteful. Then we’d come back and proudly say, “OK, I’ve done what you’ve asked. I’ve changed, so now I’m not racist/sexist/whatever anymore.”
“Oh yes you are!” the SJW would accuse. And we’d go away puzzled, trying to further examine our behavior/words/attitude/lifestyle to determine how we could possibly be what they accuse us of being. And more importantly for the SJW in question, we’d also shut up.
Or, as Vox Day so succinctly put it, the following is a typical exchange:
I call this the “doctrine of hurt feelings,” and it’s resulted in society waking around on eggshells – and for a very good reason. Charges of being “-ist” are irrefutable, along the lines of “Have you stopped beating your wife yet, yes or no?” Since no one wants to be metaphorically accused of beating his wife, our language has becoming sanitized and our behavior wary.
SJWs know that no one likes to be scorned or mocked. Consciously or unconsciously, most people avoid situations where they will be intimidated, isolated, or impugned. By accusations and insinuations, SJWs can intimidate individuals into silence and thus, by default, gain more ground toward their totalitarian agenda. And since the mainstream media are firmly in their court, SJWs can count on the fact that the media will only report their progress in favorable terms (while painting conservatives as buck-toothed knuckle-draggers, of course).
The only way we can stop the SJW agenda is to deny them the ability to shut us up. How? For starters, when you are called an “-ist,” don’t rise to the bait.
Do you hate or disparage a group of people primarily on the basis of melanin content? No? Then you’re not a racist. Do you loath half the world’s population because of their chromosomal makeup? No? Then you’re not a sexist.
Once you have determined, logically and rationally, that you are not the “-ist” that someone has labeled you, then that person is either illogical, irrational, or is attempting to shut you up simply because you are a threat to their agenda. And people like that do not deserve a “civilized” response.
So what should you say?
Consider this brief comment exchange on a WND article:
Male 1: “How did Europeans turn into such a bunch of sissies?”
Male 2: “Feminism did it.”
Female 1: “Oh, here we go again. Try growing a pair, and women’s rights won’t scare you so bad.”
Male 2: “Spare me the shaming tactics. It’s so old school Marxism. People are over it and it has no effect except to indicate the ineptitude of the accuser.”
This brief conservation sums it up well. Two people are minding their own business and having a conversation. A Social Justice Warrior jumps in and throws out an accusation of “-ist.” But this time, the accused lobs back two important bombs: 1) indifference; and 2) disdain for the SJW’s opinion and for the person.
The conversation ended. The SJW was defeated and retreated from the scene.

There was another problem with Clinton’s ride aboard the 4 Train, one that the media all but ignored: Hillary Clinton broke the subway rules, and did so not only within full sight of New York City officials and law enforcement, who stood around and watched her do it.
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Rules of Conduct, the subway system is for transporting riders to their destinations, and nothing else. But the rules list several exceptions, including “campaigning”. So far, so good, Hillary Clinton.
However, Section 1050.6(c)1 of the subway rules states unequivocally that none of these activities may be performed on the actual subway cars.
This is the rule Clinton broke. Clinton’s defenders might think the short subway trip wasn’t actually campaigning, but I’d urge them to watch a video of her two-stop ride – from Yankee Stadium to 170th Street – that clearly shows Clinton glad-handing on the train itself.

One person is killed every hour in El Salvador with most of the homicides taking place in the capital city San Salvador. In 2015, more than 6500 people were killed, which is 17 times above the global average homicide rate.
Murders jumped in January and February 2016 by 117.6 per cent from the 643 reported in the same period of 2015.
“In these two months we have a national average of 24 homicides a day which continues to be a major challenge for police operations,” said Howard Cotto, director of the Salvadoran National Police.
A street war raging between rival gangs, Mara Salvatrucha (or MS13) and Barrio 18, is being singled out as one of the main causes of the violence in the capital.
It is estimated that in El Salvador there are 55,000 active gang members, not including another 415,000 who are affiliated with the gangs, including gang family members, friends and helpers.
El Salvador is part of the “Northern Triangle”, a region including Guatemala, and Honduras that for the past decade has consistently ranked among the most deadly in the world. And now, El Salvador has taken over from Honduras as the most violent country not at war.
President Salvador Sanchez Ceren has declared a state of emergency at prisons across the country as they also consider strict wider measures to combat gang violence, but it’s not yet clear what can be done to actually stem the violence.

Republican presidential candidate John Kasich said he thinks he has a good chance at a contested convention this summer.
"I believe that a convention will look at somebody like me, and that’s why I think I’m going to be the nominee," the Ohio governor said on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday.

Kasich said he expects to continue gaining momentum and picking up delegates until the convention.
Kasich then touted his poll numbers in head-to-head match-ups against Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, saying he beats Clinton in "virtually every poll."
"I'm the only one that does it on the Republican side," he said.
He also talked about his record on job growth, adding he has international foreign policy knowledge and the experience to be a competitive candidate.
"We just have to keep going, and we’re going to have an open convention," Kasich said.
"It’s going to be so much fun. Kids will spend less time focusing on Bieber and Kardashian and more time focusing on how we elect presidents. It will be so cool."

Notwithstanding any other provisions of these rules or any rule of the House of Representatives, to demonstrate the support required of this paragraph a certificate evidencing the affirmative written support of the required number of permanently seated delegates from each of the eight (8) or more states shall have been submitted to the secretary of the convention not later than one (1) hour prior to the placing of the names of candidates for nomination pursuant to this rule and the established order of business.
(c) The total time of the nominating speech and seconding speeches for any candidate for nomination for President of the United States or Vice President of the United States shall not exceed fifteen (15) minutes.
(d) When at the close of a roll call any candidate for nomination for President of the United States or Vice President of the United States has received a majority of the votes entitled to be cast in the convention, the chairman of the convention shall announce the votes for each candidate whose name was presented in accordance with the provisions of paragraph (b) of this rule. before the convention adjourns sine die, the chairman of the convention shall declare the candidate nominated by the Republican Party for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States.
(e) If no candidate shall have received such majority, the chairman of the convention shall direct the roll of the states be called again and shall repeat the calling of the roll until a candidate shall have received a majority of the votes entitled to be cast in the convention.

reported that Texas-based bakers, a Christian couple, Edie and David
Delorme, recently declined to bake a wedding cake for two homosexual men
because of their religious beliefs. In response, they began to receive
harassing threats on their Facebook and Yelp pages.
“Our son got a call where they threatened to burn our
house down and violate him with a broken beer bottle. That was probably
the worst,” Mrs. Delorme told Fox News. The Delormes also have an
8-year-old daughter.
The Delormes own Kern’s Bake Shop in Long View,

inquired about buying a cake for their wedding. When Mrs. Delorme

A Russian documentary that peels off the sugar-coated cover of destitute North Korea will be screened in South Korea despite opposition from Russia and the North.
"Under the Sun" will open in domestic theaters on April 27. Vitali Mansky produced the 90-minute film, according to A-List Entertainment, which is handling the documentary's domestic release.
Mansky got North Korea's permission to make a documentary about North Korea with the support of the Russian government.
Then he was introduced to a girl named Jin-mi, 8, who was supposed to perform at North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's birthday party.
Her family looked better off ― she lived in a clean and spacious house in Pyongyang, eating nutritionally balanced food and receiving quality education at a public school.
But the director soon realized that her life had been sugar-coated and decided to explore deeper, often secretly. The reality he encountered was shockingly different from that which he observed through the camera
