THE CASTLE APOCALYPSE IN CAROLINA GETS A REVEAL AS A FAMILY PREPARES FOR THAT DAY OF DOOMSDAY RECKONING OF SURVIVAL

Atop one large foothill here deep in the Carolina woods lies a most unlikely site: a castle, replete with a drawbridge, portcullis — and an underground bunker.

The castle is the handiwork of a family aiming to protect itself from an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), which they think could take out electricity grids. So they’re going medieval, training to use crossbows and building a catapult to defend themselves against marauders that might come in a doomsday scenario.

The family is the subject of a new show on the National Geographic Channel called “Doomsday Castle,” which premiers at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Aug. 13. Family members aren’t disclosing their last name or location for fear of curious and/or hostile fans showing up on their castle step.

Shocked mum Rebeca Seitz almost choked on her cornflakes when an explicit advertisement featuring a steamy sex scene flashed on to her television screen as she ate breakfast with her son.

The Florida mother-of-two was watching "Good Morning America" in her Naples home when an ad for ABC drama "Betrayal", featuring a pair of naked-looking actors, beamed into her living room.

"The GMA segment went to commercial and then, wham. Confusion. Disbelief. Did that just flash on my TV screen? In front of 8-year-old Andy?!" she wrote on her blog.

"This wasn't prime time. This was a commercial about a prime time show airing while we all enjoy cornflakes and coffee and wish our kiddos a good morning.

"My kid saw that ... Not because I took him to a movie wholly inappropriate for his age. Not because I quit parenting and just told him to turn on the TV at 10pm and watch whatever."

Ms Seitz then rewound the advertisement while her son was in another room, took a photo of the "Betrayal" scene and posted it to Facebook. But ironically the social media giant then removed it for violating their standards.

"Then Facebook notified me my picture had been "reported as inappropriate due to nudity". Now Facebook has removed my post. Thanks for the affirmation, Facebook," she wrote.

She also published a post about the incident called "Morning Sex" on her blog, protesting against simulated sex scenes during breakfast viewing and "glorifying the breaking of wedding vows as high drama and entertainment".

THE DIRECTION FROM THE NEW YAHOO CEO HAS TAKEN YAHOO PAST GOOGLE LAST MONTH IN WEBSITE TRAFFIC THANKS TO MARISSA MAYER

Confounding analysts' predictions, Yahoo sites attracted 196.6 million unique visitors last month, giving it the biggest audience of any US-based web property and overtaking Google for the first time since May 2011, according to analytics company comScore.

Yahoo's unique visitors were up 21 per cent compared to July of last year, when it came in third behind Google and Microsoft. During the same period, Google sites, (including YouTube), attracted 192.3 million unique visitors, up less than 1 per cent.

Microsoft made third place in July, with 179.6 million unique visitors, followed by Facebook with 142.3 million and AOL with 117.4 million.

Although this is largely symbolic achievement for Yahoo, the news will be welcomed by Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer, who joined in July 2012 and recently laid out the company’s plans to remodel itself in the image of Google.

Belton, 88, succumbed to his injuries Thursday morning at Sacred Heart Medical Center.

Witnesses say Belton was in the parking lot of the Eagles Lodge at 6410 N. Lidgerwood, adjacent to the Eagles Ice-A-Rena, around 8 p.m. Wednesday when the two male suspects attacked him as he was about to head inside to play pool.

Police responded with K-9s to track the suspects' scent but were not able to locate them.

"It does appear random. He was in the parking lot, it appears he was assaulted in the parking lot and there was no indication that he would have known these people prior to the assault," Spokane Police Major Crimes Detective Lieutenant Mark Griffiths said.

Belton died from his injuries Thursday morning at Sacred Heart Medical Center….

….Spokane police are looking for two male suspects in the attack. They said the suspects are African Americans between 16 and 19 years old. One suspect was described as heavy set and wearing all black clothing. The other was described as being about 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. There was no description of what clothing the second suspect was wearing other than a silk do-rag.

Women in Mexico have had enough and are doing something about their communities being overrun with cartels, criminals and drug lords.

More than 100 women in the southern Mexican town of Xaltianguis have taken up arms to protect their community from organized crime groups, a local self-defense force official said Monday.
The women signed up over the past four days with the Union of Peoples and Organizations of Guerrero State, or UPOEG, Xaltianguis community self-defense force commander Miguel Angel Jimenez told reporters.
"We have an average of nine groups" of community police, with each one made up of 12 women who will work in the daytime in the neighborhoods of Xaltianguis, located about 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the resort city of Acapulco, Jimenez said.
The women will be trained in the use of firearms and carry the same weapons as men, Jimenez said.
The vigilante group has only about 80 firearms and the weapons are rotated among members, Jimenez said.
"I trust that the people, once they know that the women are participating," will provide more weapons, Jimenez said.

JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA JOINING FORCES IN A TRAINING EXERCISE WITH THE US MILITARY OVER ALASKA

Japan and South Korea's unprecedented joint participation in air force exercises over the state of Alaska shows that America's two staunchest Asian allies are willing to cooperate on security despite their political differences.

Their aircraft have been flying the annual Red Flag Alaska training drills that end Friday, along with US and Australian forces. The exercise has included simulated combat maneuvers in which Korean fighter jets helped secure air space for military transport planes from Japan and other nations.

In recent years, Seoul and Tokyo have taken tentative steps to improve security cooperation. They have exchanged observers during military exercises and engaged together in naval training drills. But this is the first time their fighter jets have flown in the same exercise.

Jim Schoff, a former Pentagon adviser for East Asia policy, said that's a sign Japan and South Korea are not letting their bilateral frictions prevent a slow and steady improvement in their military cooperation. But he said the cooperation remains limited, and is no cure for their political differences that last year derailed a bilateral agreement on sharing military information.

The victim’s mother, Lori Janczewski, told Glenn Beck on radio Tuesday that she actually could have lived with the knowledge that the teachers were still, ostensibly, caring for and educating other children had it not been for the way they defended the convicted child molester.

“They put at the bottom of their letters that there was no harm done to our son, he’s a straight‑A student,” Janczewski said.  “I can’t live with that,” she said. “They had no idea. And how dare they…”

Judge Michael Ponsor has ruled in Sexual Minorities Uganda v. Lively (2013) that Scott Lively, through his talks in Uganda in opposition to homosexual behavior was in fact “aiding and abetting a crime against humanity.”

Lively, an evangelical pastor, was sued in a Massachusetts federal court by a foreign group called Sexual Minorities of Uganda (SMUG) based on provisions in the Alien Tort Statute (ATS). If this decision is upheld, every foreign group with a grievance will appeal to the ATS and inundate our courts with claims of injustice, and the First Amendment will not offer any protection.

Judge Posnor went on to write in his 79-page ruling that Lively’s anti-same-sex views can be compared “to that of an upper-level manager or leader of a criminal enterprise.” They are, according to Judge Ponsor, “analogous to a terrorist designing and manufacturing a bomb in this country, which he then mails to Uganda with the intent that it explode there.” So speaking out against behaviors that only recently in the United States have been deemed lawful is akin to genocide?

A State Department official told MailOnline on Tuesday that after Secretary of State John Kerry took over from former Secretary Hillary Clinton, the four employees were placed on leave in order to avoid the appearance of favoritism after Kerry inherited the Benghazi mess.

But their reinstatement means that no one at State has been held accountable for failing to prevent the attack, which claimed the lives of four Americans including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens.

Rep Darrell Issa, a feisty California Republican who chairs the House Oversight Committee, accused the State Department on Tuesday of dragging its feet and failing to investigate what happened in Libya.

'Obama administration officials repeatedly promised the families of victims and the American people that officials responsible for security failures would be held accountable,' Issa recalled in a statement.

'Instead of accountability, the State Department offered a charade that included false reports of firings and resignations and now ends in a game of musical chairs where no one misses a single day on the State Department payroll.'

'It is now clear that the personnel actions taken by the Department in response to the Benghazi terrorist attacks was more of a public relations strategy than a measured response to a failure in leadership.'

Issa pointed to a December 2012 report issued by a State Department Accountability Review Board before Kerry was named to replace Clinton. That board, he said, never interviewed the four employees who were edtermined to be at fault.
