Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D., Fla.) continued to evade questions about her efforts to block new Iran sanctions legislation in Congress when asked today about the issue during multiple public appearances on Saturday in Florida.

Wasserman Schultz fled from a Washington Free Beacon reporter on two separate occasions when asked to explain her stance on new Iran sanction, which the lawmaker is reported to be lobbying against behind closed doors on Capitol Hill.

The Florida lawmakers and Democratic National Committee chair made stops in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale to publicly criticize and mock New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who is in the Sunshine State this weekend for a series of fundraisers with Republican activists.

While Wasserman Schultz lashed out at Christie for “not answer[ing] questions in the press” about his trip, she fled a Free Beacon reporter and ignored multiple requests to explain her position on the sanctions legislation.

Journalist Greta Van Susteren, formerly of CNN and currently with Fox News, is reporting that "the Obama administration [has] tried very hard to discourage Fox News Channel from reporting on" the terrorist attack in Benghazi on 9/11/2012.

She continued:

"They tried to prevent the truth from coming out and the Administration tried just about everything to discourage Fox from investigating and reporting. All the American people wanted, and all I ever wanted, was just the facts – why did 4 Americans die? What happened?

The Pentagon is considering sending U.S. troops back to the Middle East to help train Iraqi forces, defense officials said Friday.

It is unclear whether troops would be sent directly into Iraq or possibly conduct training in a nearby country such as Jordan. “We are in continuing discussions about how we can improve the Iraqi military,” Army Col. Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman, said Friday.

The idea of sending U.S. military trainers back to Iraq for the first time since 2011 is one the Pentagon has emphatically rejected in recent years, but on Friday, Warren offered a carefully worded statement that did not rule out the possibility.

The move comes in response to the deepening crisis in Anbar province, where militants have seized parts of Fallujah.

Iraq President Nouri al-Maliki said this week that he would support a new U.S. military training mission for Iraqi counterterrorism troops in neighboring Jordan, marking the first time he has expressed support for such a plan, according to a report in the Washington Post.

In addition to discussions about trainers, the Pentagon is also fast-tracking approval for a shipment of small arms and ammunition to the Iraqi military, Warren said.

As the military prepares to allow female troops in ground combat units, studies show the Department of Veterans Affairs can expect more female veterans will suffer from the kinds of injuries that go with being a ground-pounder.

No one can yet say what that means in treatment program costs or disability compensation increases, but Army and VA studies show that women will be at greater risk for musculoskeletal injuries.

Advocates for women serving in direct combat units say the problem may be overcome without lowering standards by improved training and fitness, while critics say nothing is going to change the fact that women are not built to be in the infantry.

For its part, the VA says it has to be ready for a possible rise in the number of female troops with bone, joint and ligament injuries.

A famed actress is facing backlash in San Francisco’s Latino community, after she voiced support for a conservative candidate for California governor.

Maria Conchita Alonso starred in a campaign ad for Assemblyman Tim Donnelly of San Bernardino County, a Tea Party favorite who is seeking the Republican nomination.

Donnelly has voiced strong views against illegal immigration and was once involved with the Minutemen Project, a group that patrolled the border with Mexico to catch immigrants coming across.

“Politicians and big government are killing our prosperity, pushing welfare costs through the roof and driving our schools into the ground,” Donnelly said in the ad.

Standing next to Donnelly, Alonso jokingly translated in Spanish, “We’re screwed.”

Alonso is an actress of Cuban and Venezuelan descent. She is perhaps best known for her role in the movie “Moscow on the Hudson” which also starred Robin Williams.

The actress was to perform next month at the Brava Theater Center in San Francisco’s Mission District in a Spanish-language version of “The Vagina Monologues,” scheduled for a run from February 14th through 17th. The show is being produced by none other than Eliana Lopez, wife of San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi.

They have been joining up the dots —almost literally — on HMS Queen Elizabeth, the new aircraft carrier, the largest warship built in Britain, which is now towering above the rooftops in Rosyth dockyard.

The five huge sections from different yards for the 65,000-tonne ship have been assembled. In the coming year it will be floated out of the dock, and named by the Queen — the first naval ship to bear her name.

Crew members are shortly to be given a special app for their mobile phones to help them navigate around the ship.

Walking through the ship recently on a clear winter’s day was like walking through the giant set of a sci-fi movie. Cables and wires of all kinds seem to stretch for miles. In all, 12,500 miles of fibre-optic cable will be installed and 18,750 miles of copper wiring. The flight deck space is more than three football pitches .

Captain Simon Petitt, 46, commands the Royal Navy crew of 111 now involved in the construction — almost 10 times as many civilian workers are employed. The captain keeps up a steady bombardment of statistics.

The ship is the Navy’s biggest ever. But it will take a crew of only 690 to drive it and man it — this goes up to 1,680 when the F35 attack jets are on board. Alternatively the ship can carry 920 Royal Marines.

“The Americans tell me that we are either heroic or stupid,” says Captain Petitt, “They want to know how we manage it with such small numbers.”

He adds: “We do it by maximum use of automation — particularly in handling ammunition and ordnance.”

The handling of bombs, bullets and missiles for the aircraft from the storage bays five decks below the hangars is all done by machinery.

Queen Elizabeth and her sister ship the Prince of Wales are currently budgeted at £6.2 billion to build.

The QE will be able to fly 36 F35 strike aircraft and house Apache attack helicopters.

Gov. Jerry Brown declared a drought emergency Friday for California after weeks of intensifying pressure from lawmakers to take action as the state's water reservoir levels remain strained with no rain in the forecast.

The declaration comes during one of the driest winters on record in California, following two dry years that already have left many reservoirs depleted. The state is facing "perhaps the worst drought that California has ever seen" since records began, Brown said during the Friday morning announcement.

"I've called for a collaborative effort to restrain our water use," Brown said. "This is a call to arms. This is not a partisan adversary, this is Mother Nature."

The proclamation allows California to request a broad emergency declaration from President Barack Obama. The federal declaration would expedite some water transfers, provide financial assistance and suspend some state and federal regulations.

"If some communities run out of water, we could task the National Guard to deliver it," said Mark Ghilarducci, the state's emergency services director.

Iran has gone on an execution binge in the past two weeks, hanging some 40 people, including 19 in one day, according to international human rights groups inside and outside of Iran.

Iran hanged a total of 19 prisoners on Tuesday, including one who was executed publicly, according to the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center (IHRDC), which tracks the Islamic Republic’s flawed judicial system.

Forty executions have taken place since the beginning of January, including 33 in just the past week, according to human rights group Amnesty International.

Iran, which human rights activists say is one of the world’s leaders in the abuse of prisoners, hit an all time execution peak in 2013 when it killed some 529 citizens.

The rate of executions has spiked under the leadership of President Hassan Rouhani despite his claims to be a “moderate” reformer.

More than 300 people were killed in the months after Rouhani assumed office, prompting criticism from human rights activists who criticized him for not living up to his moderate claims.

“The spike in the number of executions carried out so far this month in Iran is alarming,” Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Amnesty International’s deputy director for the Middle East and North Africa said on Thursday in a statement. “The Iranian authorities’ attempts to change their international image are meaningless if at the same time executions continue to increase.”

Iran has a penchant for hanging criminals publicly from a crane, where observers can gather to watch the execution.

Iran has officially admitted to killing 21 people since the start of 2014, according to Amnesty, which recorded an additional 19 executions that were not officially reported.

Iran has killed more people since last Thursday than it did in the entirety of January 2013.

Observers say Iranian courts are notoriously flawed and marred by corruption, noting that those convicted of even minor drug offenses are frequently killed.

Speaking in regards to Massachusetts’ new $50 million climate change proposal, MIT Professor Richard Lindzen, a leading figure in the climate change movement, pointed out the absurdity of blaming every weather event on global warming and climate change. 

“The changes that have occurred due to global warning are too small to account for,” Lindzen told WBZ-TV. “It has nothing to do with global warming, it has to do with where we live.”

Although supporting the theory of man-made global warming, Lindzen admitted that rhetoric from the political class and green movement has been nothing more than over-the-top “catastrophism.”

“Even many of the people who are supportive of sounding the global warning alarm, back off from catastrophism,” Lindzen said. “It’s the politicians and the green movement that like to portray catastrophe.”

Even more surprising, Lindzen goes on to point out the government’s obvious use of climate change alarmism to push greater state control, even warning over politicians’ use of “crony capitalism.”

“Global warming, climate change, all these things are just a dream come true for politicians. The opportunities for taxation, for policies, for control, for crony capitalism are just immense, you can see their eyes bulge,” Lindzen said.

The growing number of failed predictions from alleged global warming experts has only cooled the public’s belief in recent months.

GOP senators have been outraged over the inability to offer any amendments to big-ticket items like the budget deal and the National Defense Authorization Act.

"I can't remember … when there was a bill the size of the Defense authorization bill up, and nobody gets to offer amendments," Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said in December.
In the Senate, the majority leader gets the first crack at filing amendments to legislation that comes before the body. When Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) calls up legislation, he frequently offers several minor or technical amendments to the bill right away.
That process is known as "filling the amendment tree," and it usually blocks Republicans from offering up their own proposals for changing the bill. Republicans say Reid has used this tactic much more often than other recent Senate leaders.
Four times in the last few weeks, Senate Republicans have tried a new way of attacking Reid's procedural move. Senate Budget Committee ranking member Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) developed the idea, and was the first to try it out in December.
During debate on the House-Senate budget agreement, Sessions made a motion to table Reid's filling of the amendment tree. He made that move to protest language in the budget deal that cut $6 billion in military pensions over the next decade, language that both parties have since said they would try to eliminate in some future bill.
"This motion will remove the filling of the tree, and it will allow the Senate to vote on this amendment to strike the military retiree pay cut, and other amendments, perhaps, but this amendment in particular," Sessions said. "I believe that is in the tradition of the Senate. I believe it is extremely important."
Sessions also confirmed with the Senate parliamentarian that passage of his motion to table Reid's filled up amendment tree would allow senators to offer their own amendments.
Predictably, the Senate rejected Sessions's tabling motion in a mostly party-line 46-54 vote, although Sen. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), who faces a difficult reelection race this year, voted with Republicans.
Since December, three others have tried Sessions's tactic. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) tried it in December, followed by Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) earlier this week. Also this week, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) made a similar motion to table the filled amendment tree, and that attempt failed as well.
"I have an important amendment that I would like the Senate to debate and vote on," McConnell said before the vote. "The Reid motion to commit is currently blocking the consideration of those amendments."
While Republicans are 0-4 so far, a Senate aide said they would keep trying as a way of putting pressure on Democrats to defend their limits on amendments.

China’s Defense Ministry on Wednesday confirmed that weapons designers recently conducted the first test of an ultra-high speed missile vehicle considered cutting edge military technology.

In a two-sentence statement faxed to news agencies and state-run media in Beijing, the ministry confirmed the flight test of a new hypersonic glide vehicle.

U.S. defense officials said the test of what the Pentagon is calling the WU-14 hypersonic glide vehicle took place Jan. 9 over China.

The ministry confirmed the test after it was first reported by the Washington Free Beacon Jan. 13.

“Our planned scientific research tests conducted in our territory are normal,” the ministry said in the statement. “These tests are not targeted at any country and at any specific goals.”

China military affairs analysts said the hypersonic vehicle test represents a major milestone in China’s military buildup of weapons it calls “assassin’s mace” arms—weaponry designed to allow a weaker power to defeat a stronger one.

Officials familiar with some details of the hypersonic glide vehicle test said the high-speed glider appears designed to fit on top of an intercontinental ballistic missile. Using that booster, the vehicle is lofted to a height of 62 miles or less and then released. It then maneuvers at speeds as high as Mach 10, or 7,680 miles per hour, to its target.

U.S. missile defenses are designed to counter hypersonic targets, namely ballistic missile warheads. What is different about the hypersonic vehicle is that its trajectory does not enter space, and that makes it more difficult to detect, track, and intercept with a missile defense interceptor.

Pentagon spokesman Marine Corps Lt. Col. Jeffrey Pool confirmed the test last week. “We routinely monitor foreign defense activities and we are aware of this test,” he said.

Spokeswoman Marie Harf at the State Department had no immediate comment on the test.

Congress gave final approval Thursday to a $1-trillion spending bill, but not without a last-minute standoff in the Senate by tea party Republicans who opposed the measure.

Conservative Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) kept senators in suspense throughout the afternoon as he considered his options for blocking the bipartisan measure, which was overwhelmingly approved Tuesday by the House.

Eventually, the tea party opponents lost their fight and the measure was approved on a lopsided vote, 72-26. Seventeen Republicans voted in favor and 26 opposed. All Democrats and independents voted in favor.

Calling for “all hands on deck” to assist the economy, President Barack Obama is urging his Cabinet to identify ways to keep his administration relevant to people struggling in the up-and-down recovery.

With two weeks left before delivering an economy-focused State of the Union address to Congress, Obama is picking up the pace of his jobs message and demonstrating how he can advance his economic agenda administratively and through his ability to coax action from important interest groups.

“We’re not just going to be waiting for legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help they need. I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone,” Obama said Tuesday as he convened his first Cabinet meeting of the year.

Obama continued: ”And I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward in helping to make sure our kids are getting the best education possible, making sure that our businesses are getting the kind of support and help they need to grow and advance, to make sure that people are getting the skills that they need to get those jobs that our businesses are creating.”

Robert Laszewski—a prominent consultant to health insurance companies—recently wrote in a remarkably candid blog post that, while Obamacare is almost certain to cause insurance costs to skyrocket even higher than it already has, “insurers won’t be losing a lot of sleep over it.”  How can this be?  Because insurance companies won’t bear the cost of their own losses—at least not more than about a quarter of them.  The other three-quarters will be borne by American taxpayers. graze

For some reason, President Obama hasn’t talked about this particular feature of his signature legislation.  Indeed, it’s bad enough that Obamacare is projected by the Congressional Budget Office to funnel $1,071,000,000,000.00 (that’s $1.071 trillion) over the next decade (2014 to 2023) from American taxpayers, through Washington, to health insurance companies.  It’s even worse that Obamacare is trying to coerce Americans into buying those same insurers’ product (although there are escape routes).  It’s almost unbelievable that it will also subsidize those same insurers’ losses. 

But that’s exactly what it will do—unless Republicans take action.  As Laszewski explains, Obamacare contains a “Reinsurance Program that caps big claim costs for insurers (individual plans only).”  He writes that “in 2014, 80% of individual costs between $45,000 and $250,000 are paid by the government [read: by taxpayers], for example.” 

In other words, insurance purchased through Obamacare’s government-run exchanges isn’t even full-fledged private insurance; rather, it’s a sort of private-public hybrid.  Private insurance companies pay for costs below $45,000, then taxpayers generously pick up the tab—a tab that their president hasn’t ever bothered to tell them he has opened up on their behalf—for four-fifths of the next $200,000-plus worth of costs.  In this way, and so many others, Obamacare takes a major step toward the government monopoly over American medicine (“single payer”) that liberals drool about in their sleep.

OH YEAH JUST LIKE THE MARRIAGE LAW ACT LEGISLATED BY CONGRESS–ERIC HOLDER WILL JUST BYPASS THE LAWS HE CHOOSES DEEMED FOR HIM TO JUSTIFY–JUST LIKE BYASSING THE STATE OF UTAH EXCOMMUNICATING SAME SEX MARRIAGE AS UPHELD BY THE FEDERAL COURTS–SO NOW ERIC HOLDER IS JUDGE, LEGISLATOR, AND EXECUTIONER ATTORNEY GENERAL

Attorney General Eric Holder said that the federal government will recognize more than 1,000 same-sex marriages that were conducted in Utah “despite an earlier announcement this week from the state’s governor saying the state would not. The decision means those Utah couples will have access to federal benefits that are available to married couples in other states, including the ability to file joint tax returns. It also adds to the confusion in the state following a surprise ruling last month against the state's same-sex marriage ban.”

We’ve seen federal courts overturn the will of the people on the same-sex marriage issue. Eric Holder, as the chief law officer of the nation, is emboldening moral and legal rebels to defy our constitutional system.

Then there's his latest decision to interfere in how schools enact discipline, making it a black/white issue. His interference is going to make the problem, if there is one, even worse. Joe Hicks of Project 21 says that Holder is "the most racialized and the most ideological attorney general that . . . this nation has seen at least in the modern era. So here's a man who constantly weighs in on the issues – and always weighs in from a racial aspect that black kids are being mistreated."

I realize that the states long ago gave up their sovereign rights to the federal government when they agree to take stolen money from tax payers in other states. The states, therefore, are not guiltless.

State governments should act as a power buffer between themselves and the national government. It’s time that the states stand up for their constitutional rights even if it means economic pain.

The Declaration of Independence was written for such a time as this:

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”

WE WILL NOW WAIT AND SEE WHAT ERIC HOLDER WILL DO ABOUT STATES RIGHTS OVER FEDERAL CONTROLLING LAWS IN OBAMASCARE SINCE OHIO’S CONSTITUTION BARS ANYONE OF ITS CITIZENS FROM PARTICIPATING IN THE WORSED PIECE OF LEGISLATION PERPETRATED ON THE WE THE PEOPLE

According to the Ohio State Constitution Article 1 Section 21 “Preservation Of The Freedom To Choose Health Care and Health Care Coverage” located on page 9.

“21 (A) No federal, state, or local law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in a health care system. (emphasis mine)
(B) No federal, state, or local law or rule shall prohibit the purchase or sale of health care or health insurance.
(C) No federal, state, or local law or rule shall impose a penalty or fine for the sale or purchase of health care or health insurance.
(D) This section does not affect laws or rules in effect as of March 19, 2010; affect which services a health care provider or hospital is required to perform or provide; affect terms and conditions of government employment; or affect any laws calculated to deter fraud or punish wrongdoing int he health care industry.

Paying attention to section (D) under Article 1 Section 21 “Preservation Of The Freedom To Choose Health Care And Health Care Coverage” it states: “This section does not affect laws or rules in effect as of March 19, 2010″ (emphasis mine). This means anything that was law prior to the date of March 19, 2010 is not subject to Article 1 Section 21, but any law enacted after that date is subject to Article 1 Section 21. This is great news for all Ohio citizens, business owners, doctors, hospitals etc.. Why? I will answer that in just a moment.

As you know, in order for any bill to become law it requires three very important factors. It must pass the Senate, the House of Representatives, and it then must be signed by the president of the United States for it to become a “law.” Until the President has signed the legislation, it has not become law. I point out this very important fact because President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, on March 23, 2010. That was four days after the cut off date located in Article 1 Section 21 section (D) of the Ohio State Constitution. Thus, the Ohio Constitution grants every person, doctor, hospital, and business the choice not to be forced to sign up for Obamacare, nor fined for failing to sign up for it.

The Good news is if your business does not wish to sign onto this monstrosity it doesn’t have to. If you as an individual do not want to sign onto the ACA, aka Obamacare, you don’t have to pursuant to YOUR Ohio Constitution. Better yet, according to the Ohio State Constitution Article 1 Section 21 Section (E), you can not be fined, taxed, penalized, or any wage withholding allowed due to your refusal to sign onto a “health care law, mandate, or rule.”
