Inflation-adjusted federal tax revenues hit a record $2,663,426,000,000 for the first 11 months of the fiscal year this August, but the federal government still ran a $589,185,000,000 deficit during that time, according to the latest Monthly Treasury Statement.

Each month, the Treasury publishes the government’s “total receipts,” including all revenue from individual income taxes, corporate income taxes, social insurance and retirement taxes (including Social Security and Medicare taxes), unemployment insurance taxes, excise taxes, estate and gift taxes, customs duties, and “miscellaneous receipts.”

The largest share of the tax revenue so far this year has come from individual income taxes, which totaled $1,233,274,000,000 in the first 11 months of fiscal 2014.

Islamic State militants have released footage claiming to show the beheading of British hostage David Haines.            

The aid worker, 44, was captured by ISIS in Syria in March 2013.            

The plight of the dad-of-two was revealed when he appeared at the end of a video showing the beheading of US journalist Steven Sotloff earlier this month.            

ISIS had threatened to kill Mr Haines if world leaders do not bow to their demands.

The Jordanians are experiencing a destabilizing impact of over a million refugees from the Syrian conflict, and are profoundly concerned that ISIL, who has stated that their ambitions are not confined to Iraq and Syria, but rather to expand to the broader region.

The Uijeongbu mayor boycotted a friendship concert at Camp Red Cloud last week after a 2nd Infantry Division soldier allegedly assaulted a taxi driver.

A second incident further exacerbated simmering resentment among local residents at what they see as a never-ending string of crimes by American soldiers, said a spokesman for Mayor Ahn Byung Yong.

2ID commander Maj. Gen. Thomas Vandal apologized in writing and in a telephone conversation with Ahn. Brig. Gen. Richard Kim, assistant division commander for maneuver, met with the mayor.

The soldier, identified by Uijeongbu police as a sergeant, is suspected of assaulting a taxi driver shortly after midnight on Sept. 2 on a road near the base's back gate. The driver was taken to a hospital after losing control and running onto a curb. No information on his injuries was available.

After the incident, the soldier entered the base but was later questioned by South Korean police. Their investigation is ongoing; no charges have been filed.

The incident prompted Ahn to skip a Sept. 3 "One Mind Concert" at CRC hosted by 2ID and Gyeonggi province for the local Korean and U.S. military communities. South Korea's Yonhap News reported that a ruling party lawmaker and other officials also stayed away.

The city spokesperson, said Ahn declined to attend because he was unhappy about misbehavior by U.S. Forces Korea personnel in general, not just the alleged assault on the taxi driver. But the soldier's claims that he couldn't remember what happened made the public and the mayor unhappy, he said.

"Residents know U.S. troops are here to defend our country, but they felt it was undesirable for the mayor to attend the event," the spokesman said.

Another soldier was accused of flirting with a 26-year-old South Korean woman around 10 p.m. on Sept. 7 at Hoeryong Station, one stop from Uijeongbu, then shoving her toward a wall.

Some of the U.S. Army's sharpest minds warned young combat leaders of what they should expect as America enters a new chapter in its war with Islamic extremists.

Seasoned leaders such as retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal met with young Army officers and sergeants at Fort Benning, Ga., just hours before President Obama outlined his strategy for destroying the extremist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

"We are at a period where our enemies respect us, but they don't fear us," McChrystal told his audience at the 2014 Maneuver Conference Wednesday. McChrystal is the former commander of U.S. and allied forces in Afghanistan.

"The specter of American power is no longer enough to get somebody just not to do something."

The United States will lead a broad coalition to "downgrade and destroy" ISIL in what will be a comprehensive and sustained counter-terrorism strategy, Obama announced Wednesday night.

Obama said he would approve the expansion of airstrikes into Syria.

"I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria, as well as in Iraq," Obama said. "This is a core principle of my presidency - if you threaten America, you will find no safe haven."

Obama assured the U.S. public that the effort will not include large numbers of combat troops on the ground.

But senior military officials see this as only the beginning. Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, the outgoing head of the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, told the same group of young leaders that extremist groups such as ISIL - also known as the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) - and al Qaeda are expanding their cause to southeast Asia and other regions of the world.

"This is expansion; this is Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and particularly Indonesia," Flynn said. "This is a big problem; it is well beyond ISIS. We are in a state of perpetual conflict. We are not post war force."

WELFARE payments will be stripped from people within Australia suspected of supporting terrorism under a crackdown on funding for Islamic State fighters in Iraq and other terror groups.

And the Federal Government may also be considering forcibly relocating terrorism suspects away from fellow extremists.

“The Government will introduce legislation to ensure welfare payments can be terminated for people who have been assessed as a serious threat to Australia’s national security,” Attorney-General George Brandis’s departmental spokeswoman said.

LG Innotek shares posted a modest correction Friday, following recent gains. It closed down 0.37 percent at 133,500.

Apple released two new models ― a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, Wednesday.

Kim Rok-ho, an analyst of Hana Daetoo Securities, expects the global shipping of iPhone 6 to be around 80 million units this year.
He said LG Innotek, which supplies camera modules and other parts to Apple, will benefit from the increase in shipments of iPhones….

…LG Display, a supplier of liquid crystal displays (LCD) for iPhone models, is also a main beneficiary, analysts said.
But they said the company's gains will not be as strong as LG Innotek's, as the stock has already factored in the positive effect of new iPhone models.

The Foreign Ministry attributes the rise in the Philippines to more Koreans traveling to the country. Koreans accounted for the biggest group of tourists visiting the country since 2007. In 2011, 830,000 Koreans visited the Philippines, or 24 percent of all tourists. That compares to 560,000 Americans, 340,000 Japanese and 220,000 Chinese

Until the end of August this year, 1.17 million Koreans had already visited the Philippines.
As of the end of 2013, there were around 100,000 Koreans living in the Philippines, including 30,000 students.
But the statistics do not mean that Koreans are being singled out. Per-capita murder statistics from 2009 to 2012 show that Koreans ranked third among foreign murder victims behind Americans and Japanese.
But plenty of crimes against Koreans in the Philippines are committed by other Koreans. One Korean expat said it seems many of the murders target Koreans with criminal records.

"Koreans can enter the Philippines without a visa and firearms are also readily available here with lots of places to hide,” the expat added.
According to the Justice Ministry, China is the most favored destinations for Korean criminals on the lam (707 criminals), followed by the U.S. (584) and the Philippines (283).

Japanese pop star Aska was convicted on Friday of using illegal drugs in his apartment in Tokyo, and was handed a suspended jail sentence.
Aska ― who is part of the popular music duo Chage and Aska ― was given a three year prison term, suspended for four years, after being found guilty of using stimulants and MDMA ― commonly known as ecstasy.
He was also convicted of possessing synthetic narcotics.

Aska, 56, whose real name is Shigeaki Miyazaki, had initially denied the allegations and rejected news reports that he was a drug addict. But later he admitted the charges and reportedly told investigators that he obtained the narcotics from gangsters.

Chage and Aska made their musical debut in 1979 and remain hugely popular in Japan and other parts of Asia including Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Possession and use of drugs in Japan is heavily regulated and the police make much of high-profile arrests.

Aska’s conviction comes after the 2009 fall from grace of pop star Noriko Sakai, whose fan base stretched across East Asia. Her clean-cut image was destroyed after she was successfully prosecuted for drug use.

Amid the media focus on the basic data in the August jobs report — that the economy “added” 143,000 jobs — is the figure that will underscore the Republican efforts to take the Senate.

During the month of August, the economy added about 659,000 jobs that went to foreign-born Americans (naturalized citizens, green card holders and illegal immigrants combined). At the same time, it lost about 643,000 jobs that had been held by native-born Americans.

Indeed, since President Obama took office, the number of foreign-born Americans who have jobs has risen by 2.9 million while the number of domestically born Americans who are employed has grown by only 1.2 million.

In other words, about three out of four jobs created during the Obama presidency went to immigrants.

When the president was inaugurated in 2009, 14.9 percent of all employed Americans had been born outside of the 50 states. At this point, the number has risen to 16.8 percent.

The average American worker might not know these numbers (they are not publicized by the liberal media), but he feels the data in his gut. He is coming to realize that there will be no income growth or real employment increase, unless the U.S. limits immigration.

The immigration issue has now morphed into the economic issue and the terror issue.

Our wide-open back border is encouraging both wage stagnation and joblessness in the United States and inviting terrorists to cross over and to create havoc in our country.

Reports indicate a difference of opinion between leaders in the United Kingdom and the United States on how to cope with nationals who have left to fight for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. News accounts suggest the British want to keep them out of their country lest they commit acts of terrorism, while our government would rather admit them, track their movements and interrogate them. Is the difference because we cannot keep them out? Is it because we don’t really have a southern border, and there is no way to close a door that has been effectively removed?

Historically, it was Republicans who favored open borders in their effort to accommodate their robber baron patrons with an ongoing supply of cheap labor. It was that propensity, in part, that encouraged the growth of urban labor unions and led to their affiliation with the Democratic Party.

Now it is the Democratic Party that is opening the gates to foreign workers. Their unions remain opposed to bringing in low-wage workers, fearful that the competition will lower the incomes of their members. But no matter. The honchos of the Democratic Party, led by the president, could care less. They want Latino voters, and they are willing to make their union supporters walk the plank in order to get them into the country.

Do Americans, excluding the Marxist in the White House, actually believe private enterprise is obligated to share or "redistribute" their profits with the public; albeit paid employees, the unemployed or complete strangers? If I have a job and my neighbor doesn’t, or God forbid I make more money, am I obligated to give this person a percentage of my income? Is “Bob” going to give me his money if I lose my job and become homeless? Hell no! People open businesses to make money…period! It’s not rocket science or a Right-Wing conspiracy. It’s called risk, work, reward! If a business or an individual is concerned about economic inequality - wants to donate a percentage of their profits or income to charity – that’s their personal choice. No one…not the government, politicians or celebrities…has the right to tell you how to allocate your own property. Otherwise, these offended activists can open their own establishment, dig deep into their own pockets, and doll out every last dollar to whomever their baroque hearts desire. These smug hypocrites will single out Corporate America as capitalist marauders, the purveyors of the poor, yet they make no mention of entertainers, actors, and athletes who command astronomical salaries by fleecing struggling Americans with outrageous ticket and merchandising prices. But that’s not capitalism, right? Right?

Capitalism may be the convenient scapegoat of socialists who want to ensure your impoverished dependence on Big Government, but it is by far the most synonymous with liberty, opportunity and prosperity. In a market economy, the only limits or chains one must shed is that of their own device. If the armies of entitlement are going to orchestrate public demonstrations and demand $15-an-hour jobs for unskilled, fast food workers, perhaps they should start by buying their members a mirror. There are construction grunts who bust their ass everyday and don’t make that much money. If you truly want a better job - build a thriving business from scratch - educate yourself, learn a trade, or gain valuable experience by working your way up the proverbial ladder; anything besides standing on a corner and bemoaning your “woe is me” Facebook status. No one is forcing you to live in poverty or to work at McDonald’s. That, my friend, is entirely your own decision. Just don’t make me pay $12 for a Big Mac because you refuse to accept what every American already knows: life is unfair, there are no magic rainbows and no one owes you except yourself! In other words, just like two centuries of Americans before you, get off your ass and make it happen. Until then, your check is most definitely not in the mail!

Milk futures rose to a record as exports by the U.S. climbed amid shrinking inventories of cheese and butter, signaling higher costs for pizza and pastries.

The U.S. shipped a record 17 percent of milk production in the first half, according to Alan Levitt, a spokesman at the U.S. Dairy Export Council. Cheese stockpiles in July dropped 8 percent from a year earlier, and butter supplies tumbled 42 percent, the Department of Agriculture said last month. U.S. dairy costs are higher than world prices, signaling imports will increase, said Jon Spainhour, a partner at Rice Dairy LLC.

“Usually, we use the first six months of the year to build the inventory we’re going to sell in the last six months,” Spainhour said in a telephone interview from Chicago. “People are saying that ‘I know those imports are coming in, but in the meantime, I’ve got to make sure I’ve got enough to get on the supermarket shelf.’ ”

Milk futures for September settlement rose 0.7 percent to close at $24.45 per 100 pounds at 1:11 p.m. on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Earlier, the class III variety, used as a cheese benchmark, reached a record $24.47. The price has jumped 26 percent this year.

Dairy consumption increases in the North American autumn as U.S. football fans boost pizza orders and bakers need more butter for holiday cakes and pastries, Spainhour said.

U.S. cheese consumption will rise to a record 4.88 million metric tons in 2014, USDA data shows. Milk use will climb to an all-time high of 93.4 million tons.

“We just didn’t build the stocks we needed to, and domestic cheese buyers are still scrambling to build that inventory,” Spainhour said.

In July, retail whole milk was $3.65 a gallon, the most for the month since 2011, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

S KOREA HAS REGULATED ONLINE COMPUTER GAME PLAY FOR ITS CHILDREN–CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 15 IS NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY AFTER MIDNIGHT TO PREVENT ONLINE GAMING ADDICTION–THE REGULATION HAS BEEN SCALED BACK RECENTLY THAT ANY 15 AND UNDER CAN PLAY AFTER MIDNIGHT ONLY WITH PARENTAL APPROVAL–BUT SINCE THE YOUTH PROTECTION LAW INCEPTION, IT MAY TAKE TIL NEXT YEAR FOR THE DEREGULATION TO TAKE EFFECT

The government announced this week that children aged 15 or under will be allowed to play online games after midnight, if they have their parents’ approval. This will only expose our children to greater risk of computer game addiction.

Currently, online game operators are banned from providing services to those aged 15 or under from midnight to 6 a.m. The curfew, called “nighttime shutdown,” has been in force since 2011 and has proven effective in curbing youth game addiction.
The announcement was made jointly by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, which deals with youth policy, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which regulates the gaming industry.

Officials said they made the decision because “some” parents and the gaming industry kept requesting that the government ease the rule. In other words, they were changing the rule as part of the government’s deregulation drive.

They insisted that it would be proper to have the industry and parents control children’s gaming hours to ensure healthy use of computer games. They added that a survey last year found that about 30 percent of youths in the age group were already playing games after midnight using their parents’ IDs.

What they did not say is how many of the parents knew that their children were using their IDs to violate the law and keep playing computer games when they should be in bed.

President Park Geun-hye on Wednesday urged officials to speed up efforts to eradicate old and unnecessary regulations to resolve inconveniences for the public, lure investment and create high-quality jobs.

During a meeting held at Cheong Wa Dae, the president stressed that Korea does not have much time left to decide how to achieve future growth and that regulatory reforms would help the country achieve economic success. The president also urged officials to use creative thinking rather than simply turning down public demands to remove regulations.

“Countries around the world are in a heated competition for deregulation to attract investment and create jobs,” Park said at a televised meeting on regulatory reform.
“We can’t help but have a sense of crisis over our deregulation efforts, whether we were complacent or tardy about them,” she said.

NATO FLEXES ITS MUSCLES WITH MILITARY EXERCISE IN LATVIA–PROCLAIMING TO THE RED PUTIN YOU HAVE OVER REACHED YOUR POKER HAND INTO UKRAINES EASTERN SIDE TOO FAR

As seven-day NATO military exercises continue to take place in Latvia, the organization says the drills are aimed at showing its commitment to Baltic member states in the face of an “assertive” Russia.

Exercise Steadfast Javelin 2, which kicked off on September 2, simulates the deployment of NATO soldiers and equipment during a crisis situation. A total of around 2,000 soldiers from nine different countries are taking part in the maneuvers, which will carry on until Monday.

On Friday night, around 500 paratroopers landed at Lielvarde airport, located about 60 km from Latvia’s capital, Riga.

“We want to assure our people that we are able to protect them. Certainly on top of this we send a clear message to everyone who wants to threaten NATO, that it’s not a thing you should do. NATO will always defend and protect its people,” General Hans-Lothar Domrose, commander of the NATO military command in Brunssum, Netherlands, told reporters.

The exercises in Latvia will be followed by other drills in Germany, Norway, Ukraine, and Poland later this autumn.

Steadfast Javelin 2 was reinforced by a NATO summit in Wales, where the bloc officially announced it was creating a new rapid reaction force. The spearhead of any such force would consist of 4,000-5,000 troops who would be able to deploy to any NATO member country within 48 hours.

“It needs to be a relatively light force. It needs to be a force that succeeds, builds upon intelligence and agility, and precision as opposed to weight of military force. It is an agile, precise, intelligence-led rapidly deployable force,” Lieutenant General Ed Davis, NATO deputy land commander, told Reuters.

After 10 years of placing emphasis on military activity in Afghanistan, the alliance is now refocusing on what it refers to as the defense of its members.

The UK has agreed to provide up to 1,000 personnel in the multi-national force, which will be based in Eastern Europe. There are already 1,500 British troops involved in exercises in Baltic countries and an extra 2,000 will be deployed over the next two years.

Baltic states have been seeking backup from NATO, claiming they fear that Russia could use the same rationale as it did in Crimea to justify an attack on them. Large Russian speaking minorities live in Baltic the region – in Latvia, for instance, they account for some 26 percent (over 520,000 people) of the total population.
