THE US has been warned of potentially “devastating consequences” if it blocks China from islands it has built in contested waters in the South China Sea, according to Chinese media reports.

And in more inflammatory comments, prospective US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was told he better watch his mouth, after the former ExxonMobil CEO told US senators that he would seek to deny Beijing access to the artificial islands.
China’s actions in the region are comparable to Russia’s invasion of Crimea, he said, a comment that did not sit well with the nuclear-armed Asian giant.

If Tillerson acted on his threats, Chinese state-owned China Daily warned “it would set a course for devastating confrontation between China and the US.” Satellite photos show China has been hard at work building military facilities in the contested waters, which are also claimed by the Philippines and Vietnam, among others.
The sentiment former Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating to comment that Canberra needed to tell the incoming Trump administration from the get-go that Australia will sit out any US “adventurism” over South China Sea tensions.
“When the US secretary of state-designate threatens to involve Australia in war with China, the Australian people need to take note,” he said in a statement.

POINTING toward possible confrontation, Donald Trump’s selection for Secretary of State has likened Beijing’s island-building in the South China Sea to a takeover of another country’s territory.

China will likely be alarmed by former Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson’s Senate confirmation hearing remarks late yesterday.
“We’re going to have to send China a clear signal that first the island-building stops and second your access to those islands is also not going to be allowed,” he said.
While his address focused largely on Russia, reflecting Tillerson’s past relationship with its President Vladimir Putin and allegations of Russian hacking into the US election, his testimony on China presented a sharp change in tone from the Obama administration’s focus on co-operation.
Beijing has reclaimed more than 1200 hectares of land and constructed military-grade infrastructure, and reportedly installed weaponry, on reefs and islets mostly in the Spratly Island chain, where five other governments have territorial claims.

EXQUISITE CLOUD FORMATION OVER AUSTRALIA AS TAKEN FROM A FLIGHT FROM PERTH TO ADELAIDE ON BOARD A VA714

A spectacular and beautiful cloud formation was spotted in the skies above Australia by a passenger on an aeroplane who snapped it and posted it to his Instagram page.
Ilya Katsman, 22, saw the phenomenon on a Virgin Australia flight from Perth to Adelaide.
The photos were later re-posted on Virgin's Facebook page with the comment: "Flying above the clouds has never looked this good! These incredible cloud formations were seen on board VA714 from Perth to Adelaide."

2,500 US ARMY VEHICLES, TANKS, TRUCKS, TRANSFERRED BACK TO EUROPE'S ROMANIA, BULGARIA, GERMANY AND POLAND IN A SHOW OF DETERENCE AGAINST THE PUTIN RED OF RUSSIA

THOUSANDS of heavily armoured US military vehicles have arrived in Germany to respond to Russian aggression in Europe.

The military brigade of 3,500 troops is the largest to be deployed to the continent since the end of the Cold War.

More than 2,500 military vehicles make up the US Army’s 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team which arrived at a port in Bremerhaven, northern Germany on Saturday, UPI reports.
Two convoys of 20 vehicles were pictured leaving Brueck near Lehnin in Germany today heading to Poland.
They spent the night 80km from Berlin.
Troops will also deployed to Romania, Bulgaria and across the Baltics.

THE AIRFORCE X-37B HEADING FOR ANOTHER RECORD IN SPACE FROM 675 DAYS OF OTV-3 BACK IN 2014 TO 600 PLUS DAY AND COUNTING FOR OTV-4

 The U.S. Air Force's mysterious X-37B space plane has now spent 600 days in Earth orbit on the vessel's latest mission, and is nearing a program record for longest time spent in space.

The robotic X-37B lifted off atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Florida's Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on May 20, 2015, kicking off the program's fourth space mission (which is known as Orbital Test Vehicle-4, or OTV-4)........

Milestone record keeping

The first OTV mission began on April 22, 2010, and concluded on Dec. 3 of that year, following 224 days of orbit. OTV-2 lifted off on March 5, 2011, and landed on June 16, 2012, after 468 days in orbit.
The record-setting OTV-3 mission chalked up nearly 675 days in orbit, circling Earth from Dec. 11, 2012, until Oct. 17, 2014.
All three previous OTV missions have come down to Earth at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, but that may change for OTV-4's landing, whenever it occurs.
