In the Iowa
Democratic party’s chaotic attempt to report caucus results on Monday
night, the results in at least one precinct were unilaterally changed by
the party as it attempted to deal with the culmination of a rushed and
imperfect process overseeing the first-in-the-nation nominating contest.
In Grinnell Ward 1, the precinct where elite liberal arts college
Grinnell College is located, 19 delegates were awarded to Bernie Sanders
and seven were awarded to Hillary Clinton
on caucus night. However, the Iowa Democratic party decided to shift
one delegate from Sanders to Clinton on the night and did not notify
precinct secretary J Pablo Silva that they had done so. Silva only
discovered that this happened the next day, when checking the precinct
results in other parts of the county.
The shift of one delegate at a county convention level would not have
significantly affected the ultimate outcome of the caucus, but rather,
it raises questions aboutthe Iowa Democratic party’s management of
caucus night.
The Iowa Democratic party had long been plagued with organizational issues around the caucus and failed to find hundreds of needed volunteers
to oversee individual precinct caucuses just over a week before Monday.
The result was a disorganized process that lent itself to chaos and
conspiracy theories. Although Andy McGuire, the chair of the Iowa
Democratic party, is a longtime Clinton supporter whose license plate
once read HRC 2016, no one familiar with the issue has accused the error
of being a partisan process. Instead, they have blamed simple
mismanagement.

In 2009, Marco Rubio was a plucky
challenger for the open Senate seat in Florida, taking on incumbent
Republican Gov. Charlie Crist. Though Rubio was trailing in the polls,
one leading conservative activist thought he had real potential and
vowed to help him.
“When Marco Rubio ran for the Senate in Florida, I think I was the
first one to endorse him,” said Phyllis Schlafly. “I made a trip down to
Florida in 2009 just for the purpose of helping him.”
But Schlafly, a legendary conservative activist, author and WND columnist, now says she is bitterly disappointed by Rubio’s record.
“Once he got elected, he betrayed us all,” she told WND. “He said he was against amnesty and against the establishment. And once he got in, right away, he became an agent of the establishment. And now, of course, he’s big for amnesty and letting all the illegal immigrants in. He betrayed us a number of times on that issue.”
Schlafly said she was startled at the magnitude of Rubio’s “betrayal” on amnesty.
“It was so public,” she said.
“He’s a lackey for the establishment now,” she said. “There’s no question they’re picking up as Plan B – or maybe Plan C in this election cycle, or whatever we’re on now – but he certainly is an establishment agent.”

A Russian offensive on NATO territory in the Baltics would overwhelm
underarmed alliance forces in a matter of hours, leaving NATO with a
harsh dilemma: Launch a long, bloody counteroffensive or concede defeat.
That is the conclusion of a new report by Rand Corp., which conducted a series of elaborate war games from summer 2014 to spring 2015 with the assistance of numerous American military commands and experts.
"As presently postured, NATO cannot successfully defend the territory of its most exposed members," the Rand Corp. study says.
The findings are likely to come as no surprise to the military's top officers in Europe, who have been warning that sophisticated Russian anti-aircraft systems could deny allies quick military access to the Baltics. Russia has superior numbers of air and ground forces across the border from the vulnerable Baltic states, which were once part of the Soviet Union. However, Russia has repeatedly stressed that it has no territorial designs on the Baltics.
Policymakers must determine whether the risks of potential Russian aggression are strong enough to demand the kind of reinforcements that could thwart a Russian assault. The costs of placing such a force in the region would be substantial but manageable for a NATO alliance with a collective gross domestic product of more than $35 trillion, Rand says.
The report was issued just days before the release next week of the Pentagon's 2017 budget, which includes plans to add a brigade's worth of pre-positioned tanks and other heavy equipment in Europe, where the Pentagon now rotates one heavy brigade. The U.S. maintains only two infantry brigades permanently in Europe and no heavy units.
There are about 65,000 troops in total forward stationed. A plan to quadruple investment in the European Reassurance Initiative to $3.4 billion will add several thousand more rotational troops in a plan to increase operations along NATO's eastern flank, but falls far short of Rand's recommendations.

NORTH KOREA PLANS WITH THE TAEPODONG-2 ICBM 13,000 KM IS TO HIT ALL OF CONTINENTAL USA
It is believed that North Korea may launch a rocket with a range of 13,000 kilometers during its purported satellite launch scheduled for later this month, according to analysts and officials, Wednesday.
It will likely be a three-stage rocket capable of carrying a satellite weighing up to one ton. If the test succeeds, North Korea could load a nuclear warhead onto the rocket that could theoretically hit a city on the U.S. mainland.
It remains to be seen whether the rocket can withstand heat of up to 7,000 degrees Celsius caused if it re-enters the Earth's atmosphere after making it into outer space.
