WHEN A COUNTRY ONCE FOUGHT A POLITICAL WAR INSTEAD OF WINNING

REMEMBER VIETNAM.......  NOW REMEMBER AFGHANISTAN...

This is already our nation's longest war, and it shows no sign of ever finishing according to plans. It will end when some president decides he has had enough -- or when some future president decides to fight the war to actually win -- assuming we have the resources at that point to carry out a victory strategy. We do not currently have such resources in our military.

On this 35th anniversary of that event, President Barack Obama and his advisers would be wise to remember where the Vietnam War was really lost. It wasn't in the paddies or triple-canopy mountains of Southeast Asia. Vietnam was lost in the corridors of power in our own nation's capital. That never should happen again.
