Over $8 million of taxpayer money was spent by the first family during a 17-day Christmas vacation to Hawaii two years ago, according to expense records recently obtained by the taxpayer watchdog group Judicial Watch from the Department of Homeland Security.

The documents reveal that the Obamas’ daily expenses during the winter break at the island were estimated to be some $470K, the Washington Examiner reported. The totals to cover all seven of Obama’s traditional vacations to Hawaii with his inner circle could be as much as $50 million, without taking into account another possible trip at the end of 2016.
Records reveal that at least $316K was spent by the Obamas during December 2013-January 2014 on Secret Service expenses, $91K on car rentals and $224K on accommodations at Cabana Girl, LLC and Paradise Luxury Rentals.
