Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation chairman William Weber said the names will be read aloud starting on July 25 and continue for three days.
One person will read 90 names out loud, while some will be pre-recorded. The names will be read from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 25, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on July 26 and from 8 a.m. to 11:50 p.m. on July 27, which marks the anniversary of the ceasefire.
Around 30 people will read the names, including Shin Kyoung-soo, a defense attaché at the Korean Embassy in Washington.
The U.S. branch of Hyundai donated US$20,000 to the KWVMF to assist in the ceremony. This year marks the 62nd anniversary of the armistice and the KWVMF plans to mention the number of KATUSA, United Nations and South Korean soldiers who were killed or injured in the war.
KATUSA, or Korean Augmentation Troops to the U.S. Army, refers to South Korean soldiers who serve full-time with a U.S. unit garrisoned in Korea.
