The Islamic State militant group has released a new audio statement calling for attacks on Western countries.
The group praised recent terror attacks in France, Australia and other countries in a speech purportedly made by its spokesperson.
But the statement posted online on Monday did not mention either of the Japanese men thought to have been kidnapped by Islamic State militants. A radio station operated by the group has reported that one of the men, Haruna Yukawa, was executed.
The audio clip said the battle against Western countries is becoming increasingly fierce. It called on supporters of the group around the world to carry out more attacks against Western countries.
It said US-led air raids have failed to defeat the group. It said Islamic State is growing strong and spreading fear in the Crusaders' countries.
The statement stressed that attacks on countries taking part in the US-led campaign against the group have become more likely.
