Finishing off, teenager Mo'ne Davis was thrust into the spotlight at the Little League World Series this summer after becoming the first girl to win a game there.
For the achievement, the Associated Press named her over tennis great Serena Williams as the female athlete of the year.

She appeared on talk shows and went to the White House, and even has her jersey displayed at the baseball hall of fame.
