Four out of 10 plastic surgery clinics are based in the Gangnam district, data showed Wednesday.
About 540 cosmetic surgeons had opened up clinics in the affluent area as of the end of last year, according to a report by the Korean Medical Association. The area in question is roughly equivalent to the size of eight football fields.
The majority of 1,245 self-employed plastic surgeons set up their business in large cities, with 80 percent of them located in metropolitan areas like Busan, Daegu and Incheon. Almost 60 percent were based in Seoul.
Seocho-gu turned out to have the second-largest number of clinics in Seoul, though amounting to just 20 percent of the number in Gangnam-gu.
"... It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings."....I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"
