CHINA REVEALS ITS OWN SUPER COMPUTER–CURRENTLY THE WORLD’S FASTEST CALLED TIANHE-2

China has shown the world's fastest supercomputer to the media.
The Ministry of Science and Technology invited journalists to view the Tianhe-2 in Guangzhou on Sunday.

Ministry officials said more than 100 firms and organizations have been using the supercomputer since April for such tasks as aircraft design and pharmaceutical trials. They said the government is planning to expand its use by the private sector.
They also said its processing speed will be doubled to facilitate genetic analysis and studies in other fields.

The officials denied that China plans to use the supercomputer for military purposes.
Vice-Minister Cao Jianlin says the government will continue to invest in supercomputer research.
He stressed that China will work to upgrade its processing capability to compete with other countries.

Experts in the United States say the Tianhe-2 is the world's fastest computer.
