The U.S. 2nd Infantry Division commander said Thursday that he fully supports the Korean prosecution of four U.S. soldiers under investigation for alleged misconduct, stressing that he has “zero tolerance” for criminal acts.
In a press release, the 2nd ID underscored that the two recent cases of misconduct involving four of its 11,000 Soldiers have dishonored the reputation and legacy of its soldiers as a whole.
“The 2nd Infantry Division is cooperating fully with the Korean National Police to ensure individuals found at fault face swift and firm consequences,” said Maj. Gen. Thomas S. Vandal, the division’s commanding general.
“I fully support the Korean prosecution of soldiers found to have violated Korean law, as I will not tolerate immature and thoughtless behavior.”
On May 31, a 2ID sergeant was arrested after he allegedly stole a taxi in downtown Seoul and rear-ended a parked car. On the same day, three 2ID soldiers were caught on charges of sexually harassing a female employee at an amusement park in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
"... It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings."....I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"

IRRESPONSIBLE US SOLDIERS ARE NOT TOLERATED IN KOREA–DISCIPLINE IS KEY FIRST BEFORE AN INDIVIDUAL SOLDIER–AS THE US MILITARY 2ND INFANTRY GETS A BLACK EYE FROM UNDISCIPLINE SOLDIERS UNDER THE POTUS BHO WATCH
THE KIM OF NORTH KOREA DOES NOT GIVE A FLYING BLEEP ABOUT AMERICAN CITIZENS–SINCE THE POTUS BHO STANCE IS TO TRADE FIRST THEN ASK QUESTIONS LATER–AS THREE AMERICANS ARE NOW DETAINED BY THE KIM OF NK
North Korean state media said Friday that authorities have detained a U.S. citizen for "hostile acts" against the country.
The terse statement, just two sentences long, didn't specify the alleged crimes, saying merely that while on a tour of North Korea, Jeffrey Edward Fowle committed acts that violated the country's laws. He entered the country on April 29, the report said, and remains under investigation.
In Washington, a State Department official said: "We are aware of reports that a third U.S. citizen was detained in North Korea. There is no greater priority for us than the welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad." The official said the department couldn't confirm any details of the incident…….
…..The arrest, if confirmed, would make Mr. Fowle the third U.S. citizen known to be detained in the North currently. Kenneth Bae, a Korean-American tour leader and Christian missionary, has been held for more than a year. Matthew Miller, a 24-year-old…..
CHINA MOVES ON TO SECURE THE OIL RICH SPRATLY ISLANDS WITH PLANS TO BUILD A MAN MADE ISLAND AIRPORT AND SEAPORT

China is looking to expand its biggest installation in the Spratly Islands into a fully formed artificial island, complete with airstrip and sea port, to better project its military strength in the South China Sea, a Chinese scholar and a Chinese navy expert have said.
The planned expansion on the disputed Fiery Cross Reef, if approved, would be a further indication of China's change of tack in handling long-running sovereignty disputes from a defensive stance to an offensive one, analysts said. They said it was seen as a step to the declaration of an air defence identification zone.
The Philippines last month protested against China's reclamation activities at nearby Johnson South Reef, site of a 1988 skirmish between the Chinese and Vietnamese navies that was triggered by China's occupation of Fiery Cross Reef.
With recent developments in the South China Sea having again focused the international spotlight on China, the analysts warned reclamation at the Fiery Cross atoll - which China, the Philippines and Vietnam all claim - would further strain Beijing's relations with neighbours.
THE DEMOCRAT RUNNING OF CA LEAVES ONE TO WONDER IF THERE’S VISION IN SOLVING THE WATER PROBLEM BESIDES CONSERVATION FOR ALL WE HERE IS NOTHING BUT CONSERVE CONSERVE CONSERVE TIL THERE’S NO WATER LEFT TO CONSERVE–AS ISRAEL HAS SHOWN THEM HOW ITS DONE IN THE LAND OF DESERT FOR 60 YEARS–WATER DESALINATION
Six decades of providing water in a country that’s 60 percent desert have made Israel a technological leader in the field, a model that points the way for drought-stricken California.
Desalination of sea water, reuse of treated sewage for agriculture, software creating an early-warning system for leaks, computerized drip irrigation and careful accounting of every drop have become the norm in Israel, the world’s 40th biggest economy. Officials in California, which would be the 10th largest if it were a nation, are paying attention.
North of San Diego, Israel’s IDE Technologies Ltd. is helping to build what it says will be the largest seawater desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere. The facility, when finished in 2016, will be able to provide 50 million gallons of potable water a day. Three smaller plants already operate in California, and 15 more have been proposed.
“This is the one supply that San Diego County is investing in that is truly drought-proof,” said Peter MacLaggan, senior vice president of privately held Poseidon Resources Corp., which is developing the $922 million plant with IDE. “It does cost more, but it has some reliability benefits that are very important to the regional economy.”
