North Korean state media said Friday that authorities have detained a U.S. citizen for "hostile acts" against the country.
The terse statement, just two sentences long, didn't specify the alleged crimes, saying merely that while on a tour of North Korea, Jeffrey Edward Fowle committed acts that violated the country's laws. He entered the country on April 29, the report said, and remains under investigation.
In Washington, a State Department official said: "We are aware of reports that a third U.S. citizen was detained in North Korea. There is no greater priority for us than the welfare and safety of U.S. citizens abroad." The official said the department couldn't confirm any details of the incident…….
