Japan plans to dispatch its largest warship on a three-month tour
through the South China Sea beginning in May, three sources said, in its
biggest show of naval force in the region since World War II.
China claims almost all the disputed waters and its growing military
presence has fuelled concern in Japan and the West, with the United
States holding regular air and naval patrols to ensure freedom of
navigation.
The Izumo helicopter carrier, commissioned only two years ago, will
make stops in Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Sri
Lanka before joining the Malabar joint naval exercise with Indian and US
naval vessels in the Indian Ocean in July.

"... It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty toward the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings."....I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!"
