Asus RT-AC87U Dual-band Wireless-AC2400 Gigabit Router (previously tested)
Price: $399

The first Wave 2 AC2400 router to hit the market, the Asus RT-AC87U packs the usual stash of high-end networking features one expects for this router category.

This is one capable router. But, like its rivals, it is so cutting-edge that many of its features may not work with existing client devices. For instance, there are no clients that I know of that can support its multi-user feature.

A good option if you would like to future-proof your home with a truly advanced router.

Aztech FG7008GR(AC) Dual Band Wireless-AC 2400Mbps Gigabit Router (previously tested)
Price: $329

This Aztech router lacks many of the advanced features found on its competitors, such as guest networks. It gets ahead on affordability, though. In fact, I have seen it go for a lot less than its official retail price of $329 in shops here.

Like other Wave 2 routers, the Aztech will not be running at its full potential till faster client devices are available.

At its price, the Aztech is worth considering, especially if you are not a power user.

Linksys E8350 AC2400 Dual-Band Gigabit Wi-Fi Router (previously tested)
Price: $399

An unusual but useful feature on this Wave 2 Linksys router is the inclusion of an eSATA/USB combo port instead of an ordinary USB port. The eSATA interface is faster than USB 2.0 and is something you find on higher-end motherboards rather than on a router.

It comes with advanced features. However, its feature sets are not as abundant as some of those found on its rivals.

Curiously, this router is decked with an older version of Linksys' user interface. It is not as clean and easy to use compared with the competition.
