HONG KONG STUDENTS LED MOVEMENT FOR DEMOCRATIC REFORM TO ELECT ITS OWN LEADERS APART FROM PRE-SELECTED LEADERS BY BEIJING CONTINUES WITH NO END–THE LIBERTY BELL FOR FREEDOM RINGS ON

Tension remains high in Hong Kong despite a government offer to talk to pro-democracy protesters. The protestors have scuffled with police in an effort to reclaim territory.

On Sunday thousands of people gathered before dawn to try to recapture a section of a road in a busy district in Kowloon. They clashed violently with police officers, who tried to remove them.

Police officials say 4 students and police have been injured. Both sides are still facing each other over barricades erected by protestors.

Protesters led by students are demanding the democratic election of Hong Kong's chief executive. They have staged sit-ins on the city streets for 3 weeks.
On Saturday night, the students said there should be no attempt to remove them from the streets before talks, scheduled for Tuesday.

The students are increasingly suspicious of the government following Sunday morning's clashes.
