WORLD CUP 2014 ENDS FOR SOUTH KOREA AND THE USA MOVES ON

In their 1-0 loss to Belgium that knocked them out of the FIFA World Cup in Brazil on Thursday, the South Koreans did everything offensively but to score a goal.
Statistically and aesthetically, there was little question about which was the superior offensive side at Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo. South Korea outshot Belgium, 18-16, and also held the edge in shots on goal, 12-11. South Korea also attempted more passes than Belgium, 501-421, and was more accurate, with a 73 percent success rate compared to Belgium's 69 percent.

Germany beat USA 1-0 on a rain-soaked day in Recife, a result that takes both sides through from a highly competitive Group G at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. A 2-1 win for Portugal over Ghana in the section’s other game was enough to push both the Americans and Germans through on four and seven points respectively. The final whistle brought a joint celebration from the teams on the pitch at the Arena Pernambuco.
