ARE WE ONLY SO LUCKY THAT WE HAVE STATES WITH SANE POLICIES TO PURSUE ENERGY EXPLORATION TO GROW THE NATION AWAY FROM IMPORTING FROM ENEMY COUNTRIES AND LOWER THEIR ENERGY COST WHILST NEW YORK LIVES OFF THE ENERGY PRODUCING OF THOSE SAME STATES–NEW YORK WILL DAMN WILL NOT ALLOW ENERGY EXPLORATION PERMITS WITHIN ITS BORDERS–JUST LIKE THE GOV CUOMO STATING ALL CONSERVATIVE ARE NOT WELCOME IN THE STAE OF NEWYORK –LET THE PEOPLE OF NEW YORK THEREFORE PAY MORE FOR ENERGY AND FREEZE ONCED THEY SEE THE PRICE FOR IMPORTING ENERGY TO HEAT THEIR HOMES

New York state will not issue any permits for hydraulic fracturing in 2014, according to the head of the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation.

DEC commissioner Joe Martens told a joint session of the state legislature that the department has “absolutely no plans to” issue permits this year.

NY1 News first reported the statement:

Martens added there is no proposed spending in Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s budget to regulate and permit high-volume hydrofracking.

The state has missed multiple deadlines to develop regulations for potential development of natural gas through the controversial natural-gas extraction process.

The state Department of Health more than a year ago began an impact study on the effects hydrofracking has on human health, but that process is yet to be completed.

Cuomo’s critics have blamed high gas–and hence electricity–prices on his indecision on the fracking issue.
