AMERICA’S TECHNOLOGY AT WORK ONCE MORE TO HELP THE COMMON PEOPLE SECURE CHEAPER ENERGY PRICING AS FRACKING HAVE HELPED STABILIZE THE WORLD MARKET WITH NEW OIL DISCOVERY AND HAVE HELPED AMERICAN LOWER ITS DEPENDENCY FROM FOREIGN OIL AND LOWER THE PRICE OF GAS AND EVENTUAL FOOD PRICES AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS RELATED TO ITS TRANSPORTATION–NO THANKS TO THE DEMOCRATS WHATSOEVER AFTER BLOCKING EVERY EFFORT IN GROWING DOMESTIC ENERGY FROM THE LIKES OF HARRY RIED (D-NV) WHO PREFERS CHINESE RUN SOLAR PANELS

American workers and motorists got some badly-needed relief this week when the price of oil plunged to its lowest level in years. The oil price has fallen by about 25 percent since its peak back in June of $105 a barrel.  This is translating to lower prices at the pump with many states now below $3 a gallon.

At present levels, these lower oil and gas prices are the equivalent of a $200 billion cost saving to American consumers and businesses. That’s $200 billion a year we don’t have to send to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other foreign nations. Now that’s an economic stimulus par excellence.

There are many global reasons why gas prices are falling, but the major one isn’t being widely reported. America has become in the last several years an energy-producing powerhouse.  And sorry, Mr. President, I’m not talking about the niche “green energy” sources you are so weirdly fixated with.

Oil prices are falling because of changes in world supply and world demand. Demand has slowed because Europe is an economic wreck. But since 2008 the U.S. has increased our domestic supply by a gigantic 50 percent. This is a result of the astounding shale oil and gas revolution made possible by made-in-America technologies like hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling.  Already thanks to these inventions, the U.S. has become the number one producer of natural gas. But oil production in states like Oklahoma, Texas and North Dakota has doubled in just six years.

Without this energy blitz, the U.S. economy would barely have recovered from the recession of 2008-09. From the beginning of 2008 through the end of 2013 the oil and gas extraction industry created more than 100,000 jobs while the overall job market shrank by 970,000.

An Iraq veteran was banned from his daughter’s high school after objecting to a required homework assignment about Islam.

Kevin Wood, father of an 11th-grader at La Plata High School in Charles County, Md., was upset to discover a teacher had asked his daughter to write a three-page essay about Islam’s Five Pillars, Mecca and Mohammed.

After Wood met  with the school’s vice principal to discuss the matter, the school banned Wood from the property late last week.

“I don’t agree with it,” Wood  said in a phone interview with Fox News. “I said you can’t study God or Christianity in school; you have atheists suing schools for saying God and the pledge, and not being able to say prayers before football games … but we can force-feed our kids Islam.”

Katie O’Malley-Simpson, spokeswoman for Charles County Public Schools, told The Daily Signal today that Wood, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Iraq, was banned from school property because he was “threatening to cause a disruption at the school that could compromise the safety of the students and staff.”

“We don’t issue no trespassing orders lightly,” she said.

O’Malley-Simpson defended the assignment on the Islam, saying it is part of Maryland ‘s “world history curricular standards that are a requirement for all counties in the state.” She said:

The particular unit in question at La Plata High School is on the formation of Middle Eastern empires in which students learned the basic concepts of the Islamic faith and how it, along with politics, culture, economics and geography, contributed to the development of the Middle East. Other religions are introduced when they influence or impact a particular historical era or geographic region.

ONLINE GAME ADDICTION–UNSTOPPABLE TO THE POINT OF VIOLENCE–EVEN TO THE POINT OF DEATH

According to the 2013 research by National Information Society Agency (NIA), 84.3 percent of children under aged from five to nine played online games, while 80 percent of teenagers played them.

Kim Min-a, a manager at iWill addiction-counseling center in Changdong, northern Seoul, warns about teenage addiction.
"Teenagers are not as good at anger management as adults," Kim said. "Addiction can mean they fail in school, they fail at home."
Social factors loom large.

Game addiction is more common among teenagers from single-parent or double-income families, who are often left without parental guidance.
Every Wednesday, Lee Hyung-cho, a psychology counselor, visits Dure Forest Creative School nestled inside a mountainous area, secluded from the outside world. Lee, however, thinks that social factors are taken out of proportions.

"The game addiction rate among teenagers can reach as high as 12 to 15 percent. Up to 5 percent of teenagers were found to be in the high-risk group - a level where teenagers feel anxious when they don't play a certain amount of time or more, so they can't perform their daily routine," she said.

Lee Hae-guk, a psychiatry professor at Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital, says that too much gaming causes deterioration in partial brain function for teenagers.
"A part of brain that controls emotion, fun and pleasure develops until the age of 12," Prof. Lee said. "The frontal lobe that controls reasoning and decision making develops around 15."

"If children aged 10 to 14 are exposed to stimulating gaming for too long, their pleasure sense can develop excessively at the risk of dysfunction in the frontal lobe," the professor said.

One of the most bizarre cases he experienced covered a young man's sudden death after playing for three days straight with little interruption. During a
postmortem, Prof. Lee found a blood clot in a vein that blocked blood circulation to the heart.
